PAWS
Last week, students attended an assembly to review school wide behavior expectations. At MES, we show Husky Pup PAWS which means we:
- Practice Respect & Responsibility
- Accept Others
- Work to Succeed
- Show Kindness
Mrs. McMillian & Mrs. Polanco reviewed this Google Slide presentation with students to discuss the expectations in each area of the school. Please review PAWS with your Husky Pup at home and talk about ways to show PAWS at home, too!

PTO News
Last week, MES PTO hosted the Pacific Animal Productions for a fun and exciting assembly on animal conservation. We got up close with a number of unique animals including a baby porcupine, a kookaburra and a baby joey. Please ask your students about their favorite part. Our students were respectful and attentive, and we all learned a lot. Thank you for putting on an informative presentation.
PTO is looking for Husky Pup Fun Run volunteers. Please reach out to: mammothpto@gmail.com if interested.
Running Club
Students, lace up those shoes and come to the MES field every morning before school beginning Monday, 9/12 from 7:30-7:55 for some exercise before school! Earn tickets for every lap and remember to bring them back each Friday to turn them in for collectible charms. Regular exercise before school increases attentiveness and positive behavior in the classroom!
Parent/guardian volunteers who are interested in helping with Running Club can email Katie Deaver at katiedeaver2@yahoo.com.
Sacramento Fourth Grade Field Trip
The 4th Grade Field Trip is coming back, and we need your help to make it happen!
This field trip is a fun-filled, jam-packed two day experience where students have the opportunity to travel to Sacramento, learn about gold mining, visit the Railroad Museum, and so much more, all aligned with the fourth-grade curriculum.
Even though, due to COVID, this field trip was not able to take place for the last three school years, MES PTO has continued to set aside funds every year to pay for the trip in the hopes of it returning. The funds needed for this trip are ready and waiting to be used. But we need more than funds to make this trip happen, and that is where you come in! We need a few volunteers to lead a committee, and then a lot of other parents to take on small tasks such as phone calls to help book things like lodging, hiring a chartered bus, scheduling tours at the different venues, organizing permission slips and creating room lists, as well as other tasks.
If you are interested in leading/being on the committee or volunteering to help, please email me at hhund@mammothusd.org as soon as possible. I look forward to hearing from you, and I hope we can make this happen for our kids!
