O'Keeffe School of Excellence
Vol 3 Issue 1 September 2015
If you are new to O'Keeffe Welcome. If you are returning Welcome back. My Name is Mrs. Rose and I am the Professional School Counselor at O'Keeffe. This is my 3rd year at O'Keeffe and I am looking forward to working with you and your student this school year.
As part of the school counseling program, I will be working on developing a comprehensive counseling program to address the social emotional, academic and career awareness competencies all students need for college and career readiness. I will teach about topics such as social skills, conflict resolution, handling bullies, healthy lifestyles, personal safety, and study skills.
Each grade level is introduced to the topics appropriate to their developmental needs. There will also be an opportunity for some small groups for behavior and “lunch bunch” for meeting new students or addressing short term student issues.
Parent conferences and consultations are an important part of my job. So, if you have specific concerns about your child which may impact their school success, please give a call to set up an appointment. I am here each day from 8:45 am to 3:45 pm and can be reached at 773-535-0600. If you are unable to reach me, please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible.
This year I am working with technology and trying to go “nearly paperless”. I would like to invite you to follow what we do in the school counseling program by checking out my website at counseloratokeeffe.weebly.com for periodic updates regarding my program. I will be communicating with you monthly with an updated newsletter outlining what's next or providing useful information for you to review. Please provide an email address and a telephone number where you can be reached so you don't miss important information.
I am excited about the new school year and all the possibilities that lie ahead. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Your School Counselor, Mrs. Rose, MA, LPC
