A Message From Ms. Barry
Upcoming Events
Greetings Stallion Families,
I am thrilled to share that this Wednesday marked an impressive milestone – 100 days into our academic year! Time has flown since we embarked on this journey together, and it's inspiring to see how wonderfully our Stallions have flourished. I'm excited to inform you about several key events on the horizon that are noteworthy.
Celebrating Black American History Month
Throughout February, our staff and students will be honoring the enduring legacy of African Americans. We'll be paying homage to the countless individuals who, despite facing immense challenges, pursued and realized their aspirations. This month is a pivotal time for us to reflect on and appreciate the significant contributions African Americans continue to make to our nation.

Important Reminder: Minimizing Classroom Disruptions Due to Forgotten Items
Recently, we have noticed a significant rise in the number of items being left behind and brought to the main office. As our staff capacity does not extend to delivering these items to classrooms, we often need to contact teachers during instructional time to arrange for students to collect their belongings. This practice has become disruptive for many of our educators.
To minimize interruptions and maintain an optimal learning environment, we kindly request your assistance in ensuring that your child comes to school fully prepared with all necessary items, such as backpacks, water bottles, lunch, homework, etc. While we understand that occasionally things may be forgotten, the volume of forgotten items currently being handled by our office is substantial.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter, as it helps us provide a more focused and uninterrupted educational experience for all students. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Computer2Kids
The San Diego County Office of Education and Computers2Kids are hosting an event for families to purchase affordable computers on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 from 9 to 12:00 p.m. at Canyon Hills High School, 5156 Santo Rd, San Diego, CA 92124 (Drive Thru Event).
See attached flyer or on this link for details.
We are in need of board games for future rainy days!
When it rains, we have to move students inside the MPR and we need your gently used board games for rainy days. Looking for all age levels. Please drop off any gently used board games in our main office. Thank you!

Cold and Flu Season
As we enter the cold and flu season, we want to ensure that you are well-informed about our health and medication procedures. Kindly take a moment to review the guidelines in the link above thoroughly, so you are prepared to handle situations where your child may need to stay home due to illness. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
Attendance Matters
Our school's primary objective is to enhance our daily attendance rates. Following the Winter Break, our school administrators will engage in discussions with families facing chronic absenteeism. We kindly emphasize the importance of scheduling vacations within the 180 days when school is not in session.
Research indicates a significant influence on students' academic and social well-being when they consistently miss school. In 2024, we will introduce incentives for students and classes that consistently exhibit good attendance.
Need Additional Illustrative Math Resources
We invite you to explore the provided link above for access to Illustrative Math resources that can enhance your students' learning experience during the Thanksgiving or Winter break. This resource-packed site is designed to complement Illustrative Math, offering valuable support for your students' mathematical journey. Your students will find a wealth of materials to reinforce their math skills and enrich their understanding. Happy learning!
Food and Nutrition Updates
School breakfast and school lunch are FREE for all enrolled students, every school day. Meals must still be entered into the cafeteria computer by individual student account.
Even though meals are free, families are still highly encouraged to complete the application for free and reduced-price meal eligibility. School site funding depends in part on the number of students eligible for free/reduced-price meals. Families that qualify for free/reduced-price meals may qualify for other benefits, as well. The meal application is available online at MySchoolApps.com.
Printer-friendly PDF menus are available on the PUSD Food and Nutrition webpage. At the top of the page, click or hover over School Menus + and then Printable PDF Menus.
Interactive, web-based menus containing nutrient and allergen details are available at MySchoolMenus.com, as well as via links from the F&N webpage.
