1954 - 1968


Nearly after 100 years since the Emancipation Proclamation, African American citizens in Southern states were being involved in race inspired violent actions. The Civil Rights Movement stopped that. Many African American people stood up and protested for equal rights.

Jim Crow Laws

Jim Crow laws were laws that forced the act of racial segregation. These laws were abolished in 1965.
