Thanksgiving Eve Worship Service November 25th @6pm

Hold That Feast!...just a bit. In the book of Deuteronomy, the Lord humbled Israel for just a time by not giving them the kind of feast they wanted. This year, our Thanksgiving celebrations take on a new look - with distances between friends and family. But in that delay of what we desire, we remember all good gifts come as blessings from the cross of Jesus! Join us for worship, Thanksgiving Eve @6pm.

Christmas Decorating November 28

Please sign up for an area to decorate. Note that decorating times are different for each area to reduce the number of people in one area. The minimum number of adults needed is also noted.

November 28th Moonwalkers

November Moonwalk will be in Eagle River along a higher elevation, lightly traveled road with views of Eagle River Valley and Anchorage.

Meet at 7 PM at the Mile High Saddle Trail parking lot (directions below). Wear weather-appropriate gear (including headlamps or flashlights, masks) and bring some hot cocoa/tea/coffee for after-walk-distanced-parking-lot- fellowship. Friends are welcome—furry or otherwise!

Directions: From Eagle River, take Eagle River Road to about Mile 3. Turn left onto Stewart Drive (Hylen Crest Subdivision sign) across from P&M Gardens. Proceed up switchbacks on streets named Stewart-Mile Hi, Lower Canyon, Wilson Way, Upper Canyon, Sheppard, Lynx, Brownie, Barclay until you see a small turn off/parking area to the right, with a gate. There is a “No Parking Beyond This Point” sign, so this is the spot! We will walk the mostly uphill road beyond. Questions? Contact Ingrid Roelfs Home: 694-8144, cell: 382-3662, roelfs@gci.net

Children's(social distancing)Christmas Program

Big picture
In light of 2020 (Covid-19) we unfortunately will not have our traditional Youth and Children's Christmas Service. Instead, Ericka is working on a Children's Christmas (pre-recorded social distancing) Program for children up to 6th grade. This is not yet set in stone as we are still navigating the logistics. An email was sent out to families in the age bracket with all the information, if you are interested in having your children be a part of this please respond to the email or contact Ericka office@orlc-ak.org by November 20th.

Offering Envelopes Update

Council has voted not to order new envelopes for the upcoming year 2021. The decision was made to find generic, unnumbered envelopes, with a line for your name, for those wanting an envelope.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, lonely, stressed, or drained? Let me remind you that we, your church family, are here should you need counsel, prayer, or resources. Please reach out and let us know if you, your family, or your kids need anything. We are here to support you through all stages of life. Why? Because we love you, just as Jesus loves us!

Contact Deac. Britt for help with resources ranging from stress, family issues, devotions, and more

River of Life and ORLC

ORLC is blessed to welcome River of Life Lutheran Church into our facility during their time of building displacement due to a fire. Their worship service will be each Sunday at 1pm, with various meetings or studies throughout the week. The office at the end of our upstairs hallway will be theirs during their stay. If you see some new faces around here, be sure to welcome your brothers and sisters in Christ!

Walkin' at the Mac

"Walkin’ at the Mac” is generally at 9AM Mon. and Thurs. (free for seniors or $2per visit/ $1.50 with punch card). If you are interested or have questions contact Ingrid Roelfs at 907-382-3662.
Big picture

On December 1, people all over the world will come together and harness the power of human connection to change our world. Will you join us in focusing this change on Jesus?

Alaska Mission for Christ will be participating in GivingTuesday 2020, and we need YOUR help!

Here's how you can get ready to help:

  1. Mark your calendar. GivingTuesday is December 1, 2020. Keep an eye on your inbox for more details as the day gets closer!
  2. Give. On December 1, we will be kicking off a special campaign to amplify the spread of the Good News of Jesus throughout Alaska! You can also support the mission by praying for our staff, board of directors, and souls we serve.
  3. Spread the word! Encourage friends, family, and colleagues to join you. Share on social media what our mission means to you. Use the special hashtag #alaska4Jesus so we can harness the power of social media and connection to help share your story of radical generosity!

We can't wait to celebrate this special day with you on December 1!

There is something special in the works behind the scenes in our office to make this day of giving even more impactful for the kingdom of Jesus!

Stay tuned!
