BGMS Spelling Bee

From Mrs. Sara Wiley . . .

"Beech Grove Middle School hosted its annual all-school spelling bee on Monday, January 11. Twenty students, selected through spelling bees in language arts classes, participated in the bee.

After twenty-six rounds, Hannah Chandler became the school's 2016 spelling champion. Olivia Keenan earned second place, while Seth Rumler secured third place. This year's championship word was Celsius. Congratulations to all spelling bee participants!

Special thanks to Mr. Bair for being the bee's MC, Mayor Buckley and Dr. Keeley for supporting our students' academic successes by attending the bee, and Mrs. Anderson and Mr. Peak for preparing the gymnasium for the event."

Send Us Your Hornet Highlights!

We know there are many, many positive stories about Beech Grove City Schools involving our students, teachers, staff, and programs that we don't always hear. If you have a positive story to share, please send the details to Melody Stevens, Community Relations Director, at mstevens@bgcs.k12.in.us. We also encourage you to send stories that include personal achievements of your child such as: attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, performing in a community play, earning Girl Scout badges, serving as a volunteer in a non-profit organization, etc., etc. You might just see your story in a future edition of the "Hornet Blast" or in one of our local south side newspapers. We want to celebrate our Hornets!
