PARENTING TEENS DRUMCONDRA & SWORDS

WORKSHOP SATURDAY 23RD MAY 11am -2pm €45

THE TEENAGE YEARS, SOMETIMES WILD, SOMETIMES WISE WORKSHOP

Adolescence is about starting the process of becoming independent and self-reliant and, depending on the young person’s experiences in infancy and childhood, the teenage years can be a rollercoaster of emotional highs and lows or a relatively smooth ride into maturity.

Children who move into their adolescent years with considerable fears, insecurities and doubts about their worth will find facing the challenges involved – emotional, social, sexual, intellectual, educational and career – very difficult. These adolescents will find powerful and creative ways of postponing or avoiding these challenges; they may be ‘wild’ in their presenting behaviours. Parents, teachers, and other concerned adults may view with alarm the young person’s seemingly irresponsible and difficult behaviours, but it is the adult who possesses maturity, who will see a deeper reality that needs to be resolved for the troubled and troubling young people to progress towards self realisation.

8 WEEK COURSE ALSO AVAILABLE.

PARENTS REALISING YOUR POTENTIAL

Do you want to 'improve' your relationship with your self, others and your children?

Would you like to feel empowered in your choices and decisions?

Do you to want to learn to understand how to be your real self?

  • Session 1 Who am I? This is the question we all want the answer to and most of us attempt to find the answer outside ourselves.

  • Session 2 Where am I now? Each one of us has a story and it is that story that determines where you are in terms of how you see yourself.

  • Session 3 Belonging to Self - Is a fearful prospect for people who have not dared Self expression and have creatively hidden their true nature. Individuals who hide behind protective screens know full well the dangers of being real.

  • Session 4 Feeling your way- Love is the most important emotion of all, second to that is anger. Both can be hugely misunderstood and result in major human distress.

  • Session 5 Thinking your way- Individuals creatively develop protective patters of thinking to reduce the possibility of hurt, humiliation and rejection.

  • Session 6 Listening is the first act of communication- Listening is an act of worship and needs to start with self

  • Session 7 Communication is about getting through to self-The nature of your relationship with another is determined by the nature of the relationship with self.

  • Session 8 Stress as an ally- As human beings we have many needs and when these needs are blocked we will get stressed.

  • 'It is only you who can realise your full presence. Without your commitment to being present to your real self, no amount of work on the part of another to help you to move inwards is likely to be helpful. Support from others helps the process of going on the road less travelled, but only you can open the door and allow in that belief in you and support of you'. Dr.Tony Humphreys
