Wolfpack Parent Newsletter-Restart

KIPP CONNECT Middle School - October 1, 2020

Welcome Message

Dear KCMS Families,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. While we may still be apart at the moment, it’s important that we remain strongly CONNECTed to ensure both you and your little KIPPsters have all that is needed to have a positive, enjoyable, and impactful learning experience at KCMS-whether that be in the building or online. As a team, we believe that open and clear communication is sacred, which is why the KCMS team has compiled the information below related to School Restart. If you have decided that in person learning is what works best for your child, the videos, flyers, and notes below will review the key details and things to know about what is to come. Health and safety will continue to be our #1 priority and you will hear the steps that KIPP Texas and KCMS will follow to honor this commitment. If you have decided that virtual learning will continue for your child, you will also find important of what to expect for them. Thank you for taking the time to read and watch so that you are as informed as possible. We appreciate EVERYTHING you have done, and will do, to support your students success. Please remember, we are here for you, we love you, and please stay safe.

With love,

Ms. Bowers & the KCMS Team

Uniforms

2020-21 COVID-19 Dress Code

KIPP Texas Houston has always maintained a standard of dress/uniform that honors our school community. We also understand that there is a very real economic impact that COVID 19 has had on our students and families. As we phase back into in-person learning we want to both honor what is true about our schools while also prioritizing the lived experiences of our KIPPsters in our 2020-21 Dress Code policy.

  • KIPP or College T-Shirt (no rips, holes, tears, or cut offs).
  • Orange/Navy Polo (with or without school emblem & not grade level specific).
  • Solid blue, black, brown, or khaki pants (no rips, holes, or tears).
  • Solid blue jeans (no rips, holes or tears).
  • Sweat pants, joggers, jeggings, or leggings cannot be worn.

Shoes

  • Closed toe shoes must be worn.
  • Crocs, slides, sandals, slippers, house shoes, or flip flops cannot be worn.

Head Coverings

  • Head coverings that honor religious beliefs can always be worn.
