Volume 1 ~ Issue 21 ~ Week of January 16, 2023

Message from the Principal π
Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the crucial role he played in the American civil rights movement. So, how do you make today more than just a day off from school? A few things you can do to make MLK Day meaningful is to continue to get an education, speak up and stand up when things aren't right, and do something good for someone. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr once said, "Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love".
The RISE African American Scholars Conference is just around the corner, less than 3 weeks away, on February 4th at Otay Ranch High School. This is a FREE conference and will include guest speakers, performances, workshops, and lunch. Transportation will also be provided...see details in the flyer below and register HERE. This will be an awesome event so I look forward to seeing some Vikings there!
There will be no after-school tutoring or Saturday Academy this week. We will resume those awesome opportunities starting January 30th (Tutoring) and February 4th (Saturday Academy)...see flyers below. In the meantime, stay on top of your work so you don't fall behind!
Looking ahead, the district finalized our date for 8th Grade Promotion...Friday, June 2nd at 1:30pm at Mar Vista High School. Please mark your calendars...more info to come soon!
Take care,
Ms. Scott
