Officer Diaz shared tips for Immigrant Families
Officer Randy Diaz, Immigrant Outreach Specialist from IMPD Community Engagement Office, shared the following:
- Don't be afraid to report crimes and tips to the police
- You may call 911 or other police service and stay anonymous.
- Take pictures of your valuables and its serial numbers just in case they are stolen as it is easier to fill out a police report and recover your valuables.
- Avoid traffic violations such as driving after drinking alcohol.
- Don't get out of your car if you are pulled over by a police officer
- Wait until the officer is by your side to reach for your ID
- All kids under 8 need a car seat.
- Keep all lights on your car in working conditions.
- If you are unsure, ask a police officer to stay within the law
