A Message From Nurse Jamie
Clinic reminders from Nurse Jamie:
Even though daily school attendance is encouraged for all students, please do not send your child to school if they are not feeling well in the morning. Children MUST BE free of fever, diarrhea, and vomiting for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication prior to returning to school.
Also, please know that the clinic does NOT stock medications. Over the counter medications MUST be brought to the clinic by the parent. A Request for Administration of Medication Form must be completed and signed.
Daily medication that will need to be administered during school hours for a period of longer than two weeks MUST have a physician signature on the Request for Administration of Medication All medication MUST be brought to the clinic by the parent.
Students CANNOT have medications with them on school grounds (unless authorized to carry, with the form completed and on file), including cough drops, sunscreen, etc.
Medications must be in the original container with the student name and cannot be expired.
Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation with these things. Together, we can help keep our Blue Bears healthy and safe!
Best regards,
Jamie Troup BSN, RN

European Explorers Simulation: Third Grade
Third grade introduced their European Explorers unit with a simulation game. Each crew made choices throughout their journey to experience the reasons (economic wealth, religious freedom, fame) and obstacles (poor navigation tools, illness, low morale, lack of adequate food or supplies) of exploration. Students used collaboration and problem-solving to overcome the obstacles and complete their journey to the New World! They learned so much through their explorations!

Food Drive
Mashburn will be collecting cans of cream soups of all variety during the month of October and early part of November to support families in our community for Thanksgiving. All donations will be given to The Place of Forsyth County the week of November 11th-15th. Please drop off donations to your child’s homeroom teacher. Every school is assigned a particular item so we encourage you to donate cans of cream soups to Mashburn but all other items donated will be greatly appreciated and accepted!
7 Mindsets Update
This month’s mindset is Attitude of Gratitude. Throughout the month, we will focus on treasuring yourself, being more grateful, thanking it forward, and elevating your perspective. As a family, you and your child can work on applying this mindset at home by making lists of items, people, and experiences to be grateful for, demonstrating gratefulness in all areas of your day, and identifying personal strengths that can help others and using those strengths to give back.
