Pleasant Valley Family Newsletter

May 12, 2023

Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!

Dear Pleasant Valley Families,

Our PTA has applied for the National PTA School of Excellence designation. The process includes a fall parent survey where family and staff input is collected and used to create goals and implement action steps to achieve those goals. It is now time for our families to take the spring survey. Please use this link to read a letter from our PTA and access the link to take the survey so we can gather your input.

As always, thank you for your partnership with Pleasant Valley! We are so appreciative of all of our Pleasant Valley families. Should you ever have any questions, concerns, or just a terrific idea you would like to share, please email me at bokas@parmacityschools.org or call the main office at 440.885.2480.

Warmest Regards,

Mrs. Stephanie Boka

Fourth Grade Clap out: June 1st @ 2:15!

As in the past, we want to celebrate our 4th graders wrapping up their elementary careers at PV with our clap-out. Parents are encouraged to participate in the clap-out but must remain outside the building. If you wish to participate, please park in the neighborhood behind Pleasant Valley or in the parking lot in the back of the school. Please line both sides of the walkway from the playground up to the old Arlington Elementary. 4th graders will walk out this route around 2:15 pm on the last day of school. They will then return to the building and walk the hallways following a designated route. Students will then return to the classroom to finish their school day. Students will be dismissed from school at 3:30 pm.

Parents of 4th-grade students that wish to can sign students out after the clap-out. We will have a sign out table set up in the back of the building. All parents will need to leave the parking lot ASAP so we can prepare for the regular afternoon dismissal; otherwise, students will be expected to follow their normal dismissal procedures unless otherwise noted.

PTA News

WAGS (Working Animals Giving Support for Kids) was awesome! Thank you to those who sent in towel donations. They will be used for the service dogs in training.

We have been working hard on our Fourth Grade Farewell celebration. This is a student-only event, where kids will have the opportunity to commemorate their last days in the elementary building.

PV PTA won two awards from the Parma Council of PTA's:

  • Shine On Unit Award, First place
  • Spreading Sunshine, Silver level

PLEASE take a few minutes to complete the School of Excellence survey included in the letter above. This will aid us in our final stages of becoming a National School of Excellence!

We hosted our installation dinner on 5/10.

Congratulations to the newly installed PTA Board:

1st VP – Erin Fisher
