The BIG 4-0
So...the cat is out of the bag. I turned the big 4-0 recently. I appreciate all of the well wishes. You all know how to make someone feel special on their birthday. Thank you!
Kindergarten Roundup
71 smiling faces met with us yesterday at our kindergarten roundup. I love this day because these children are soooo excited to be a Manchester Park! It is a nice reminder of why we do what we do. I challenge you to find the little things that help you remember why you got into this profession. I truly believe that finding the positives like this will get you through the tough times!
On a side note, a big shoutout out to all of the staff that helped make this a special day for the children and their families. From the office staff, counselor, nurse, and fifth grade staff/helpers to the kindergarten team of teachers and aides, you do a wonderful job of supporting each other.
Counselor's Corner
I recently heard a teacher help a student with an I-statement to work through a conflict. How awesome! I love how students are not only learning assertive communication but they are applying it and you are helping them with this lifelong skills. Here is a poster that you display if you wish or refer to as needed.
Spring is right around the corner...
No really!
Please take time to hold class meetings and use second step with your students. February is usually a difficult time with behavior and this year is no different. Students need structure, but also need to know that you care about them. We can do this! Keep up the great work!
Tech Update
Tech will be adding Microsoft Wireless adapters to Manchester Park for our projectors.
This will occur during the week of March 11th (Spring Break). Please see the attachment on how to mirror what is on your surface pro to the projector...once it is installed!
Vertical Team Planning Page
Reminder!
Please begin to work with your PLC on completing this form so it doesn't sneak up on you at the end of the year. You are welcome to cut and paste anything from the PLC notes. These forms have been put in your grade level "teams".
Interventions on Synergy
Reminder!
Please make sure that you are putting this on synergy when you begin and then update this when you complete it. This should be done for any behavior or academic interventions.
Visitor Check In
Reminder!
If you can do us a big favor:
If you have a person coming in to help in your classroom (senior serving schools, grandparent, mystery reader, speaker, etc,) that is not a parent at our school, please email or let Cristy, Lesley, and Andrea know.
If we don't know that they are coming, we end up having to stop them at the door and not let them in until we confirm with you...which ends up making our visitors a little testy...so if you can give us a heads up, it will go much smoother. Thanks!
Afternoon Dismissal Duty if you are Absent
Reminder!
If you have a dismissal duty:
- If you are absent (and it is something that you have planned or know in advance), please try and contact a floater or someone on your grade level to see if they can cover your duty. I am not comfortable with substitutes doing these duties because they do not know the kids, our routines, and our procedures. I understand that there are certain substitutes that are our regulars. If these people are your substitute, please feel free to use them for these roles. Thank you!
