Summer solstice

The Summer solstice is the longest day of the year and is the first day of summer. June 21.

Marks the ending of spring and the start of summer. We receive the maximum amount of sunlight in the northern hemisphere on this day. The sun is high in the sky. The suns rays hit the earth more directly. The direct rays of sun cause the ground to warm more effectively. Solar noon on the summer solstice is the highest the sun ever seems to get in the sky.
