Principal's Message
Need your vote for Site Council and ELAC
Our Site Council for 20-21 needs to be voted on, please vote with the survey below for both Site Council and for ELAC and return them to us as soon as possible.
Greetings from Hoover;
I hope you had a nice weekend, granted that it was a bit on the warmer side, but some hints of colder autumn weather are beginning to appear, particularly in the mornings! it actually feels good! I want to take the time to say thank you to our parent/leaders who are volunteering their time to be active members of the Hoover Site Council and ELAC. We've had very well attended site council and ELAC meetings so far! thanks again. It is proven that when parents get involved in their child's school, students tend to perform at higher levels. Daily reading to your children is is also essential, reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It also helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. Thank you for reading daily to your children!
I also wanted to remind you that at their last meeting on October 7th, the Redwood City School District (RCSD) Board of Trustees reached consensus for all grade levels (PreK-8) to return to in-person teaching and learning beginning on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Long distance learning will also be available for families who may choose to keep their children home due to health and safety concerns. Here is a link to the newsletter sent by the DO with details on the board's decision, please read it carefully and feel free to reach out with any questions that you may have. Hoover is also putting a plan in place for students' return in 2021, these plans are being created following the framework for the Four Pillars for Pandemic Recovery as provided by the San Mateo County Office of Education. Please click here for more information on the Four Pillars.
I wanted to thank you for making sure that your children are logging in daily and on time. Remember that students need to complete all asynchronous work on Wednesdays and submit them so they can get credit for their work. This is particularly important now as we approach the end of the first trimester, report cards and conferences.
We continue with our attendance awareness campaign. Daily Attendance is Crucial!
Please continue to encourage your children to ding in daily, complete their work and submitting them on time. Please continue to check your children's schedule and ensure that your child is connected to their classrooms. We will continue with this promotion until November 18th at the end of the promotion we will select students who have been consistent at connecting and completing work and will raffle some prizes. So, attend today! CONNECT daily and complete all assignments so you can give yourself a greater chance of success!
Our next round of distribution will be October 28th from 9am to 12noon.
Saludos de Hoover;
