Principal's Message
This week has been AMAZING! As one student shared, 'it's been a billion days great'! It's so wonderful to see all the Kindergarteners and 1st Graders who are at Hallinan for In-Person learning. We miss those who cannot join us at this time, but know you are still part of the Hallinan family, and I look forward to seeing you in your zoom classes soon. On Monday, 3/1, 2nd and 3rd graders will join us, and on Friday, 3/5, 4th and 5th graders will join us. Hallinan will feel alive again!
I have had so much fun greeting your children at arrival and dismissal. For their and our staff's safety, I'd like to remind you of a few things:
- Do not park your car in the school parking lot, all drop-off must be done via the car line
- Students exiting or entering cars in the car line must enter or exit from the passenger/curbside. Students may not enter or exit from the driver/street side
- To expedite dismissal, please place a large sign with your student's last name on it, in the front window, on the passenger side.
- Due to teacher contractual obligations, students will stay in cars or buses, and walkers will stand socially distanced on the sidewalk, (use the blue stars as guiding markers) until 8 am and 12:45 pm, when the building opens.
- Starting Monday, 3/1, walkers will meet their family/guardian undercover by the playground. Using the stars on the ground, please stay socially distant and your students will come to you.
That saying, it takes a village..... well, I appreciate mine! I want to thank our Central Office staff, Donna Atherton, Mary Kay Larson and Kileen Birmingham, for being here to assist us this week and next week as we navigate making arrival and dismissal as efficient as possible.
Up until Tuesday, it had been 347 days with no students at Hallinan. To celebrate students' return, Jonathan House/Lake Oswego Review stopped by and took a photo. I am so grateful he is allowing us to share it with you. Below, from left to right, are Educational Assistant Barb Bogdan, Lila Bartunek, Audrey Cherrytree and yours truly. It brings me such great joy to see everyone in-person. My heart is full!
