Scholarship Information
Hi Seniors and Parents:
It has been such a busy day! I was allowed to go into the Guidance Office and scan all the scholarship applications and also have been on the phone trying to contact the remaining scholarship organizations. There are several I still have not heard from so I will be updating the application list as I get answers. With the awesome help of Ms. Kuck, the list and scholarship applications I scanned this morning were loaded into the Guidance Office website at this link: https://www.easthamptonps.org/o/ehhs/page/welcome-to-high-school-guidance You will see the application list as it is updated and each scholarship application in this website. The first page of each application has the instructions you saw on the paper copies in the scholarship bin (green sheet). Almost all of these applications need to be completed and electronically sent to my email by or before May 8th (there are a couple exceptions) so I can get them all to the organizations as soon as possible. If you need a transcript or a letter of recommendation attached to an application, just request that in your email to me when you send the completed application. If you do not want to go into the full Guidance Office webiste, the link for just the scholarship applications is : https://tinyurl.com/EHHS-Scholarship-Applications
If we are back to school on April 20th, you can submit completed applications either electronically or bring me the completed paper copy - whichever is easiest for you. If we are not back, all applications will need to be electronically sent to me. IMPORTANT!!! I MUST HAVE ALL COMPLETED APPLICATIONS BY OR BEFORE MAY 8TH! All the applications are due at the same time so please don't wait until the last minute to get them completed. As always, if you have any questions please e-mail Mrs. Malavasi in the School Counseling Office.

News from the Nurses Office
How to talk to your kids about Corona Virus and changes to expect at school:
We are communicating with the state departments, gathering research, and then attempting to translate it all for our school "audience". We are hoping to answer FAQ's and provide the most important parts for our schools since the community is getting an overwhelming amount of updates at large.
Knowledge is power! Learning how to differentiate this new virus compared to our more seasoned influenza and allergies is the first step. Here is a nice symptom check list from the CDC. Some other things we can all discuss with our kids is the continued importance of hand washing; possible use of face masks when returning to school, a possible isolation/protection plan for respiratory symptoms, lockdowns, and be open to hearing more changes from your principal.
Here are some universal steps for home that we have gotten from our research:
1. Do it! Talk with your kids in the way that you know is best for them to learn, understand and engage in the topic of COVID-19
2. Be honest. This is a huge part of real history and children love learning. Parents and educators should screen the news on behalf of our children. Pick out the most important reasons for them to stay safe, and tell the why. Remain calm and reassuring.
3. Know the symptoms and keep screening at home. (Chart of symptoms included)
4. Practice! Starting healthy lifestyle changes at home will reinforce the importance for when children want to play, or go to school, or resume their favorite extracurricular activity. Protect yourselves: social distancing, wash your hands, don’t touch your face, no sharing cups/straws/water bottles, etc.
5. Be a team! If everyone is practicing the same things then it will become habit quicker. (Some experiments included)
6. Listen to what your children are saying. Are they understanding? What can you review?
Here are some universal steps/basic principles for school:
Following basic principles can help keep students, teachers, and staff safe at school and help stop the spread of this disease.
1. Sick students, teachers and other staff should not come to school
2. Schools should enforce regular hand washing with safe water and soap, alcohol rub/hand sanitizer or chlorine solution and, at a minimum, daily disinfection and cleaning of school surfaces
3. Schools should provide water, sanitation and waste management facilities and follow environmental cleaning and decontamination procedures
4. Schools should promote social distancing (a term applied to certain actions that are taken to slow down the spread of a highly contagious disease, including limiting large groups of people coming together)
5. School nurses will work with parents to track symptoms (form to come). A form can be sent home with students showing symptoms and then families can follow the CDC guidelines for return
