The Buzz at Westbrook School
August 20th, 2021
From the Principal...
Dear Westbrook Families,
The Westbrook staff was thrilled to welcome our first graders and kindergarteners back to school this week. The school was filled with excitement and smiling faces as students met teachers and admired new classrooms. We look forward to welcoming our early childhood students back to the building next Tuesday, August 24th. I am proud of our students for their enthusiasm and engagement. I am impressed by the hard work of our teachers and staff. Thank you, parents and guardians, for all of your support and help to prepare students for their first week of school.
Thank you to the families that participated in the garden walks this week. Garden walks allow our kindergarteners and early childhood students to meet their teachers and visit their classrooms before the first day of school. Westbrook used to be the “garden school” before it received the bee mascot. That is why our color is green, and many things are referred to as “the garden.”
Please review the back-to-school night document. We will have an optional in-person meet and greet on Thursday, August 26th, at Westbrook from 6:00-6:30 pm. Following the meet and greet, teachers will zoom with families to share important classroom information. Please refer to the schedule to identify the presentation time and zoom link.
Please ensure you use the crosswalk in the parking lot walking to and from Westbrook.
Please do not walk between the busses. Staff members will be in front of the school each morning, reminding families to only cross at the crosswalk.
We kindly request you do not bring dogs or animals on school property. Many of our students are frightened of dogs.
Please contact the classroom teacher if you have a friend or family member picking up your child. Please communicate to the adult which door your child is dismissed from.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!
