Elementary Christmas Performance-December 11, 2012
Last week the Christmas Performance was listed in the upcoming events and your child wrote times in his/her agenda. I would like to give you more detailed information. The performance is on December 11, 2012, at the newly completed, beautiful Covington gym. Please arrive around 5:30 p.m. and have your child go to the library. The students have been practicing singing their songs and will continue to do so on Monday and Tuesday. Dress should be Sunday school Christmas attire. Hope to see you there!

Christmas Party - December 19th
Party info.
Our Christmas party will be held on December 19th in our classroom. I am providing pizza for the class and a special dessert to go along with our Polar Express reading unit. We will complete our Polar Express unit by watching the movie during our pizza party. Breanna is providing cupcakes and Bret is providing cookies that day. If anyone would like to provide Capri drinks for 13 students, please let me know.

Homework For The Week
Bible-study verse (no test Thursday)
Reading-This week our reading unit will be on The Polar Express. If you have this book at home, please bring it in to read each day. We have many projects that we will be doing with the book. Look for some of them in the hallway!
Complete the short vowel worksheet on your leveled reading book and turn in for reading group on Wednesday.
Read each night for at least 15 minutes and record it on your Pizza Hut Reading Log.
Read an AR book for testing.
Comprehension test on Friday.
Lang. Arts-Turn in contract this Friday and study for spelling test.

The class will be writing a letter to Santa, and I have a very good idea that they will receive an answer! How exciting!

What We Are Learning
Science-We have worked on ocean and arctic habitats. This week we will learn about other habitats. A project will be sent home for our habitat unit.

Needed Supplies for The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Boy Goes to School, and Clay Boy
On December 18th, I would like to add a fun element to some stories we will be reading along with the Polar Express. I would like to have sugar cookies, 1 can of green icing, 1 can of red icing, 1 bag of mini m&m's, and 1 bag of chocolate chips. We will be comparing and contrasting the three books and the class will end with creating their own gingerbread cookie. If you are able to help, please let me know.
