Magness Creek Elementary
Week of October 23, 2023
We loved seeing all of our parents last week at Parent-Teacher Conferences! Thank you so much for collaborating with us to make our students successful!
It is Red Ribbon Week! Red Ribbon Week is aimed at encouraging a drug-free lifestyle. A list of dress up days to celebrate the week is listed below.
And speaking of dressing up, our grade levels are competing to see who has the best overall attendance percentage for the month of October, so the winning grade level can wear a school appropriate costume next week on Halloween. Here are the attendance numbers from last week:
Kindergarten--82%
First Grade--76%
Second Grade--61%
Third Grade--86%
Fourth Grade--84%
We will announce our winning grade level for the month of October on Friday afternoon!
Our students have been waiting patiently on the grand opening of our bookstore. Our bookstore cart will go around on Fridays, beginning with this one, with items ranging from 50 cents to $5.
May your new week be a good one!

How to access Lexia at Home
Lexia is an online reading program that we use for all students here at Magness Creek in grades K-4. It has 21 levels. Students took a placement test at the beginning of the year and were placed on the level they should begin with. Every time a student passes a level, the office will give the student a prize and document the progress on a superstar wall by the office. Various classroom teachers have systems in their classrooms as well to further reward units and time spent on Lexia. We have seen Lexia grow students substantially in the area of reading. As you know, chromebooks stay here at school this year, but we wanted you to have the information for your child to be able to access Lexia at home on a personal device if they would want to devote more time to this program after hours:
*Go to https://lexiacore5.com.
*Use your child's teacher email to log in. Then use your child's Student ID for the username and password. Please call the office or ask your child's teacher for the Student ID number if you do not know it.
