Our Philosophy

Communities of the future will be very different from the ones we live in today. These communities will need to be different because, as we move through the end of the twentieth century and into the twenty-first, we face a whole new set of socioeconomic, technological, and global forces that are unlike those that brought us to where we are today. Sustainability is good business from the social, economic, and environmental perspectives. When tied to a community's vision, sustainable development can resolve successfully many key issues faced by communities today. Across the city, sustainable development has offered practical solutions to common problems, for example, a park can be a sustainable component of the ecology and a community. Moreover, it can be a good source for controlling storm water runoff during heavy rains, a means to lessen the flooding and pollution, a place of nature's beauty, and natural habitat for local plants and animal species. Here in Glenview Manor, we assure you to have the best out of our simple ideas to promote sustainability. :)

What is Sustainability?

Sustainability means meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In addition to natural resources, we also need social and economic resources. Sustainability is not just environmental-ism.

Where does the term come from?

While the concept of sustainability is a relatively new idea, the

movement as a whole has roots in social justice, conservationism,

internationalism and other past movements with rich histories.

By the end of the twentieth centuries, many of these ideas had

come together in the call for ‘sustainable development.

Three Pillars of Sustainability

How does our city help promote sustainability?

Our land uses.

There are skyscrapers. The modern skyscrapers facilitate rooftop gardening, and then additionally we have recreational facilities like the swimming pools, spas, etc. under one roof. Basically, having all these things under one roof helps us save green space. We do have townhouses as well.

The space of the townhouse backyard can be cultivated and used to grow organic foods like fruits & veggies. But we do have farmlands outside the city which brings us all the fresh produces set up in farmer's market.

Green Campaigns at Glenview Manor : GreenLine

We do have many green campaigns here :) One of the main campaigns here is GreenLine. GreenLine started in October 2010 with a used battery, a long list of questions, and a nagging suspicion that just maybe, greener people could be the key to a greener world.

Students, teachers, citizen researchers, and a host of other individuals and organisations are proving that sensible lifestyle choices and active involvement in civic issues can protect and improve the environment we live in.

Our mission is to be:

• a platform that brings people together to explore eco-friendly lifestyles that positively impact the environment

• a forum that provides people the space to discuss their ideas and gain the support to actually implement them

• a movement that links together people who are passionate about protecting and promoting the environment.
