Wescott Word
August 19, 2022
Welcome to the New Wescott Word!
Welcome back, Wolves!
We are proud and excited to kick off another outstanding school year. Our theme this year is Kindness Begins with Me. Each day, each one of us has the opportunity to make Wescott a more kind and caring place. Take a moment every day to share a kind act for a classmate or an adult in the building. Just like anything else, it takes practice, but I am confident kindness will continue to grow this year at Wescott.

Make Sure Your Health Forms are Up-To-Date
Kindergarteners and students new to Wescott are required to provide the school with an Illinois health exam form with an immunization record and a physical, which was completed within one year prior to the first day of school. Kindergarteners and new students will also need to hand in a completed eye exam and dental form. The forms may be found at District 30 Health Forms.
Second-graders will need to turn in a dental form this school year by May 2023. If your student will be keeping allergy or asthma medication in the health office, a current health care plan from your physician is required.
Before any medication can be dispensed, the school must receive written instructions and a signed permission form from the student’s physician and parent. All medications must be properly labeled and kept in the Health Office. Parental permission must also be obtained for non-prescription medication. Please contact the Health Office at 847-400-8760 or kwalsh@district30.org if you have questions.
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Tests Aug. 29-Sept. 19
Starting the week of August 29, students in grades 1 through 8 will take NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) Fall MAP assessment.
- Students in grades 2-8 will take two assessments: Reading and Mathematics.
- Students in grade 1 will just take Mathematics.
The testing window will occur on various days from August 29 through September 19. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s building principal or the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction, Dr. Melissa Hirsch.
Wishing you a wonderful school year!
