MCPS Health & Safety
Montgomery County Public Schools is posting student report cards for the first marking period in ParentVue beginning today. Some students across the school district who experienced quarantine and virtual learning days are seeing those days marked as absences. This is an error and all affected student accounts will be fixed in the coming days.
Once this issue has been corrected and any absences reported in error are recalculated, new report cards will be generated. Staff is working to complete this work as quickly as possible.
We apologize for this error and any confusion it may have caused. If you have questions or see incorrectly reported absences in your child’s report card in the coming days, please contact your teacher or a school administrator.
For more information about grading and reporting, visit this website.
COVID-19 Testing Will Help Reduce Quarantine and Keep Students and Staff Safe
One significant mitigation tactic MCPS is using is random COVID-19 screening tests and rapid testing across grades. MCPS, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Health, is offering COVID tests to students at no cost. Testing requires parent permission; one form provides consent for both tests.
Screening Testing: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends random asymptomatic COVID-19 testing because it detects and can limit the spread of the virus, even in the absence of visible symptoms.
Rapid Testing: Staff from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will determine whether a COVID-19 rapid test should be administered when a student presents to a health room with potential COVID-19 symptoms.
Parents/guardians only need to fill out one form to provide consent for both types of tests.

Attention 7th and 8th grade students and families who are interested in Winter and Spring Sports!
There is an interest meeting for boys and girls basketball during lunch on NOV 16th. Students will get a pass for the basketball interest meeting to meet in the Library. This interest meeting will discuss when and how tryouts will be. It will also go over how students/parents will register through ParentVUE Synergy.
Please note that google form registration will not count for winter season. Also on Monday Nov 22 from 12:40-1:40, Mr. Flanagan will be available through zoom link on the Parkland website. Please email Brendan Flanagan at Brendan_t_flanagan@mcpsmd.org

Message from PTSA
Marketplace is a one-stop shop to order easy-to-make meals, desserts, coffee and so much more from several businesses delivered straight to your door.
Please click this link to our own website and watch the 2 minute video to learn more. Every order you make will help support our PTSA and the more we order, the more profit we get to keep.
November’s bonus profit comes from The Dessert Shop and The Coffee Shop all month long. They've got some really delicious choices, like Pumpkin Pie, Red Velvet Cake Roll, and of course, great coffee! So, check them out and know you'll be helping support Parkland’s PTSA a little extra from those shops. If you want to make your Thanksgiving a little easier, check out What A Crock, for their side dishes, soups and awesome dips to feed those extra guests! Be sure to share this link with your family and friends so they can order too. Remember, you can mix and match items from any of the stores and if you’re just curious to sample an item or two, go in on an order with friends so you can get the free shipping.
