February 2019

2019-2020 Kindergarten Pre-enrollment is Now Open

Pre-enrollment for the 2019-2020 Kindergarten class opened February 1st. Pre-enrollment is the first step in the registration process. Children living within the district who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2019 should register for Kindergarten.

The pre-enrollment form can be found here.

After completing the pre-enrollment, parents of future kindergarteners will need to prove residency at our district office.

Here is the residency verification form.

After completing both of these steps, then more information to complete registration will come later this spring.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Spring Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, February 14th from 4:00-7:30. Typically, teachers will reach out to schedule spring conferences if needed; however, if you are interested in meeting with your child´s teacher, please the teacher to arrange a time.

From the Nurse's Office

Your child may be given vision and hearing screenings this school year. Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor.

You will be notified if your child does not pass the screening. If your child passed, this screening should not replace an eye appointment with an eye doctor. Vision screening does not evaluate eye health and important vision skills needed for success in school. Only an examination by an eye doctor can identify eye and vision problems and prescribe treatment.

Parents who DO NOT want their child screened for either vision and/or hearing will need to send a letter to their child’s school indicating their child is to be excluded.

Weather-related Closing Makeup

As of February 1st, we have used a total of seven snow/cold days. According to school code, five of these days have to be made up. One of them was rescheduled on January 21st. Another day will be made up on Friday, February 15th, which was originally scheduled to be a school improvement day. More updates will come as to how the remaining three days will impact this year's attendance calendar.

Attendance Reminder

Illinois School Code mandates attendance for children in grades kindergarten through 12. If your child is ill or cannot attend on a given day, please be sure to contact the school at 815-335-2318 to report the absence.
