Caught Being a Leader
The Outreach Committee has done it again. The 2nd Annual Cowboy Breakfast was a huge success. Thank you Outreach, your hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated.
When the term ‘outside the box’ comes up, one teacher always comes to mind. Lauren Ramos is constantly thinking about different ways to reach individual student needs. Her dedication to finding solutions is amazing!

Coker Handbook Tidbits-Lesson Plans
Research clearly indicates that instructional planning plays a critical role in teaching and learning. Effective teachers ensure that students are actively engaged in activities that provide them with high levels of success.
Weekly lesson plans are to be completed no later than Monday morning of each week at 7:30 a.m. Lesson plans are to be kept current and maintained electronically on the staff shared drive (Administration/Lesson Plans). Lesson plans are to include the date, TEKS objective, language of instruction, resources being used, activities, sample HOT questions and assessment. Each teacher must post their own plans even if the grade level is using the same plans. Lesson Plans should be sufficiently detailed so that a substitute could come into your classroom and effectively carry out your lessons. The objective of the lesson should be clear; (i.e. distinguish fact from opinion, review parts of speech). Merely listing pages to be covered is not sufficient.

Recess
Students must be supervised at all times when classes are at recess. Please be vigilant and aware of where students are when they are at play ex: Basketball courts, New field, side wall of new gym, etc. To insure proper and safe supervision teachers must be on duty to monitor students. The teachers on recess duty should coordinate in such a way that all play areas are constantly under a watchful eye. This will require you to be active; that is, “walking around”, during recess. Children who know that teachers are monitoring their activities tend to exhibit better behavior and safety practices. NEISD prohibits recess to be taken away from a student as a consequence. It is important to review, model, and practice your grade level recess rules, expectations, and procedures with your students.
