TIMELINE-Harlem Renaissance
The lives of African American artists lend insight into the historical, social, and cultural context of their works.
Harlem Renaissance – (n.) the period from 1919 to the 1930's during which African American intellectual and artistic pursuits (theater, writing, jazz music, and artwork) flourished, especially in Harlem, New York.
Project Grading Criteria
- Participate in the African American Background Notes from Teacher Presentation.
- Return to the WEBSITE presentation link to complete the questions by THURS. 2/14/13.
- Complete the independent research on the individual you are illustrating on the stamp art.
- NEATLY print notes on NAME , Born Date, short biography, and three facts on paper provided by teacher which will be glued to the finished art project stamp design.
- Sketch sheet submitted complete with two different composition designs of people approved by teacher.
- Stamp reference images (digital or printed-must be in class) are used for realistic likeness.
- Contribution illustrated-What is the person known for accomplishing?
- Can you mix paint to create skin tone?
- Overall design is presented on time with craftsmanship and pride including Bio Notes.
- Postage stamp must have a price graphically designed into the image.
