Mr. Trey Wright- AP Eddins Elementary
This year, Eddins Elementary's assistant principal, Trey Wright, was named "TCEA Campus Administrator of the Year". Mr. Wright's passion for challenging students through problem solving, coding clubs and learning outside the four walls of the classroom is evident in everything happening on the Eddins campus. His excitement and love of learning is contagious and the state of Texas agreed. MISD is lucky to have such an innovator among us! Congratulations Mr. Wright.

"From Dream to STEAM"
Lawson ECS Playkerspace and STEAM Lab...
The Lawson Early Childhood school administrative team had a dream to ensure students were engaged in meaningful STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) activities. The administrative team began this journey by visiting STEAM labs and Maker Spaces in other districts. The team attended numerous Ed Camps, participating in all classes that related to Maker Space and STEAM. Head Start teachers and administration also attended Region X’s Now4ForEver 2016 Summer Conference which was entirely focused on STEAM teaching and learning. Teachers were surveyed to determine needs and expectations for this endeavour. The administrative team, which consists of principals (one principal and two assistant principals), librarian, 2 instructional coaches, and a counselor examined the Pre-kindergarten guidelines and districts Year-At-A-Glance and mapped out overarching themes for each month. The team purchased many books for book studies to ensure a high level of problem solving, creativity, and integration of subjects. The administrative team creates the stations each month along with guiding questions, reflection questions, and I Can Statements. Flipped videos are created for teachers and students to watch prior to attending the STEAM Lab. See the example of one of these videos below:
Money Transfer Apps...
Did you know?
Facebook Messenger- an extension of the popular Facebook App, Messenger allows users to privately message one another outside of the public forum of Facebook. Messenger now includes an option to add a checking or debit card account to your Messenger account that will allow you or others to transfer funds. Funds transfers post immediately to the account based on availability of funds and require both sender and recipient to accept the terms of service to participate and user agreement.
Snapchat- "Snapcash" is an option within the Snapchat app that provides users the option to transfer money from a debit card to another debit card. The transfer requires an active debit card account and a Snapchat account for both the sender and the receiver. Funds transfers usually take up to 24 hours to post to an account and there are limits on transfer amounts. The "Snapcash" user policy can be found HERE.
Venmo- is an app totally dedicated to money transfer. Users must add an active checking account, debit card account or credit card to their profile in order to send or receive money. Money transfers can take up to 24 hours and require users to accept the funds once they are sent. Venmo user policies can be found HERE.
