BOP CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The pinnacle of all the cross country events in Term 2 is the BOP Cross Country Championships. This year, three TPS students qualified to compete at this event held locally at Waipuna Park in Welcome Bay. Unfortunately, Molly H had to withdraw, so just Tessa B and Timothy C joined the best runners in the BOP region (travelling from as far as Opotiki, Rotorua and Waihi), to partake in this highly competitive event.
The 9 year old boys race was a fast-paced and closely run race from start to finish. Timothy stuck with the front pack for the duration of the race, and finished in a very pleasing 11th place.
In the 9 year old girls race, the competitors were more separated along the track, and Tessa sat in the top three for the majority of the race. This is where Tessa finished, receiving a bronze medal.

TGA CITY BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION YEAR 5&6 WORLD CUP
Last Friday, the TPS SWISH played in the TGA City Basketball Association Year 5 & 6 Basketball World Cup. The SWISH drew a tough pool consisting of several A grade teams. They performed exceptionally well earning some good wins and finished in 3rd place. Mahi pai! They then faced Mt Maunganui Primary School, losing their first cross over game and completed the day with a win over Pyes Pa School.
YEAR 3&4 HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
On Tuesday, The TPS FLYERS competed in the first hockey tournament for the Year 3 & 4 age group. Despite having to brave the freezing and wet weather, the tournament was very worthwhile as the team improved immensely throughout the day. The Flyers played five games, and finished the day in 9th place overall. Tino pai TPS Flyers!
