Principal Corner - Thank You
We had no idea how many parents would show up for our Veterans Day Celebrations. The parade had hundreds of adults, so many that the line looped back around on itself. The parade has never done that before. There was a lot of flag waving and a lot of high fives. Books were passed-out and more than a few students had stickers-stickers-stickers everywhere. The event was to honor our veterans and I believe it met the goal. We couldn't have done it without you.
Thank you.
Teachers went to School - last Friday, November 11th. At the end of the day, School Board Members Erin Morotti and Brandy Harty worked with our staff on pottery lessons.
School Board Meetings - Our school is directed by the Karen Melin, our Chief School Administrator. She takes direction from our elected School Board (good to have had several visit this past month). The upcoming School Board Meetings will help shape our budget for the next year. With limited funding, it is important that you let the school board know what are your educational priorities. Linked here is information about attending school board meetings.
Arctic Light Canned Food Drive - during the month of November. Bring boxed or canned food to your classrooms. Classrooms with the largest amount will win a pizza party.
AK Star - third and fourth grade scores from the state test last April have been emailed to parents. If you have questions, please reach out to your current teacher. The MAP scores were also reported on this form and you should already have scores from this fall. The next MAP tests are in January.
- Snow Gear - check your child's snow gear. Students will call if they are needing a snow gear item to be warm and dry at recess. Check-out this guideline for what to wear.
- If the weather conditions are looking difficult, consult the Inclement Weather Decision Making flowchart. This helps us all understand the process for delaying or canceling school.
- Remember Schoolcafe.com for your school menu and application for free/ reduced meals. These applications are what fund our Title I educational programs.
This week, students have ALiCE lessons during their Life Skills class. See letter linked below.
This is the month of gratitude.
