From Coach
Just wanted to remind classroom teachers if you haven’t added the special areas and resource teachers to your dojo, could you please do that before the end of this week? It makes it much easier with us to be able to give them points right on the app rather than tell y’all to do it! Thanks!
Also for Safety Patrol: If you see a Safety Patrol student in the mornings before they come outside, can you make sure they have eaten breakfast? They must do it BEFORE they come outside if they are going to eat breakfast at school. Also please don’t dismiss your Safety Patrol students before 2:23 in the afternoon. That is the best time that either me or Slagle will be out there to sit with them in the lobby! Thank you so much!
Character Education SOAR
Thanks to everyone for kicking off our Character Ed curriculum in a big way 😊. I love that a lot of our grade-level teams are making guidance/social emotional notebooks for their students! Special shout out to 4th grade and Pre-K. 4th grade really made the lessons their own and I had a blast teaching Pre-K all about identifying and expressing their feelings.
***Reminder: No Character Ed next week***
CPI Training
Please be sure that all appropriate staff in your school plan for and attend Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training this year. See the 2019-20 CPI Training Schedule. CPI – either the initial course or refresher sessions – is required for all administrators and first responders at each school, preschool through high school. First responders are selected by the administration and may be the counselor and/or specific classroom teachers in each hall/grade in a small school elementary school or the athletic coaches, APs/principals, ISS teacher, and special education teachers in all self-contained classrooms. The use of CPI aligns with approved interventions through the Restraint and Seclusion: Resource Document established by the U.S. Department of Education in May of 2012. Please see the USED’s Restraint and Seclusion webpage for additional information.
Training dates can be found in KickUp.

Typetastic
VirtualSC continues to provide us with a typing program for grades K-6. They have changed the program they are providing from Typing Quest/Typing Master to Typetastic. With this new program comes the ability for the district to automatically manage rosters for our schools and integrate the typing program into Launchpad. This year, we will sync only homeroom sections from PowerSchool into Typetastic; this will associate homeroom teachers with their classes.
