A Message From Mrs. Harrison

Dear Mashburn Families,

Welcome back to school! I hope you all are healthy and had a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends! I am so excited to be back at Mashburn Elementary where I began my teaching career in 1988. I am a native of Forsyth County and served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district office administrator during my career with Forsyth County Schools.

Our staff worked really hard last week to prepare for the 2nd semester. We are so glad to be able to come back with face-to-face learning. As Dr. Bearden stated in his communication last week, our goal is to be able to continue face-to-face learning for the remainder of the school year. In order to accomplish this, we strongly encourage all staff and students to wear a mask while indoors and to social distance when feasible. Additionally, we strongly encourage individuals to wash hands frequently, keep work areas clean, and cover-up coughs and sneezes. We are also asking for sick/symptomatic children to stay at home. Students or staff awaiting a COVID test result must stay home while waiting for the results. For further information about COVID and our procedures, please refer to the FCS COVID-19 website. If you have any questions about our protocols, please feel free to reach out to the school administration.

We appreciate your support and patience as we go through these next few weeks. We hope to be able to open the school back up to lunch and classroom visitors in the near future!

Please let me know if I can help you in any way!

Sincerely,

Fonda Harrison

Interim Principal

A Message From Our Nurse

Dear Mashburn Family,

Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or updates you may have with your child's health. If you are new to Mashburn Elementary OR unsure of when to keep your child homesick. Please read Mashburn Elementary's student handbook for policies on when and what types of outside foods are allowed to be brought into the building. Any questions please contact your student's teacher for classroom guidelines on this. Together we can try to keep our Blue bears healthy and happy learners.

Medication forms and Care plans are available under the forms tab. No medication will be accepted without the proper forms signed by the parent and or physician. Please be aware that children are never allowed to transport medications of any kind to or from school. For more information go to the FCS web page and view their policy on medications in school.~ Thank You for helping us keep all our blue bears safe this school year.

The clinic at Mashburn is staffed by a nurse each day during school hours. Mashburn Elementary clinic's goal is to help each and every student maintain a healthy lifestyle to promote optimum learning. The school nurse helps the student through the education process by assessing the individual medical needs of the student, planning, and implementing nursing care, and evaluating the outcome. The nurse also monitors medication and/or treatments given to the students while at school.

Best Regards,

Nurse Missy
