Message from Dr. Andrews
Dear Parents,
I’d like to acquaint you with the procedures we will use for determining classroom assignments for the 2018-2019 school year. Our ultimate goal is to place each child in an environment that is comfortable and conducive to the growth of the individual student. Much consideration is given to appropriately match learning styles and personalities of students and teachers. Of equal importance is designing a classroom in which the children will positively influence each other.
A student’s current teacher may list particular needs related to the child’s learning style and the characteristics of the learning environment that would best meet the needs of the child. Their input is valuable and will be taken with great regard. The administrative team will collect needed information prior to making placement decisions. The placement process is highly reflective and focuses on the needs of all children.
Parents are invited to share views regarding their child’s needs, learning styles, and the characteristics of the teacher that would best meet the needs of their child. If a parent wishes to express their views regarding their child’s needs, this should be addressed in writing by writing a letter stating such things as the most important priority you have for your child in school, strengths your child has, challenges your child may face, or other factors you would like considered (health issues, learning style, special needs, behavior, peer concerns, family history). Please do not write any specific teacher names in your letter.
Please return your letter by Friday, March 16, 2018, in order for your input to be considered for placement. If you have any questions, please call or email me at ryanandrews@wsdr4.org

On Valentines Day, Peine Ridge students and staff participated in a school-wide Valentine Service Learning Project. Students traveled in their houses around the building to learn about different services for the school and community. At one stop, students talked about being part of a community and made matching bracelets for themselves and for a student at Wabash Elementary. Some former Peine students now attend Wabash and we wanted to welcome them and their new school into our community. Another station was filled with the service of beautification for our school. Students painted stones for a future pathway and ceiling tiles to help brighten our hallway. Fitting in with beautification, students took pride in cleaning desks and chairs to show responsibility and accountability for their place of learning. Finally, students worked on how to inspire others through positive words. A wall of Inspiration is now outside the library so students can take a post it with a positive message when they need it to help get them through their day. It was a phenomenal day of kindness, service, friendship, and learning at Peine Ridge.

Panther Prowl 2018
We are asking that students walk/run for a total of 90 minutes and that they ask family and friends to sponsor their walking time. This will be a school-day event, taking place during the morning. The students will be walking/running for a ninety-minute interval with breaks in between to dance to fun group songs.
Our goal for this event is $15,000.00 which breaks down to $21.00 per student. All of the proceeds from this fundraiser will directly benefit Peine Ridge. Please keep an eye out for more information and the donation packet that will be sent home on Friday, March 9.
We are excited to see our students have fun while being healthy with this event!

PBIS Talk
In February, the weekly PBIS classroom lessons focused on Kindness! Students and staff were all challenged to find ways to show kindness every day. Students learned how to show kindness throughout the day, with both words and actions. The students also learned how they react with their body language and facial expressions can also impact those around them. Class meetings were held with students to discuss what to do when someone is bothering them. The last week if the month, Panthers have learned how to give a sincere apology and how to accept it as well.
Panthers of the Month:
Each grade level will be choosing one student, who displays the BIG 3 and Panther Pride every day, to be the Panther of the Month. Students will have their photo and short blurb written by his or her teacher displayed in the hallway for the month.
Kindergarten: Zoey Wright
Zoey is always working hard to set an example for others by listening and following directions. I am so proud of how much her brain has grown and I know she will continue to work hard! Her kindness to others lights up our classroom and she truly brightens our day :) Excellent job Zoey!
First Grade: Carson Brown
Carson is a perfect example of what it means to have integrity. He is always following expectations when adults are around and when they are not. He is such a great friend to others by showing kindness and putting others before himself. Carson has also grown so much academically this year! He always puts 100% effort into every assignment he is given. I love having him in my classroom because he is respectful towards me and loves to learn new things!
Second Grade: Lydia Jansen
Lydia is such a blessing to have in class! She is one of those students that every teacher wants in class! She is quiet but mighty! She works hard, does what is expected of her and will help friends without the friend even realizing they are struggling! Lydia is a star student that can be pushed without getting frustrated but has the confidence to know that she is growing. I am so proud of Lydia and how much she has grown this year and I can’t wait to watch you continue to grow and see all of your future successes!
Third Grade: Zaydien Banks
Zaydien Banks is our Third Grade Panther of the Month because he shows respect and kindness to others every day. Zaydien enters our classroom each morning with a big smile, ready to learn! He is an amazing friend and role model for all the students at Peine Ridge Elementary!
Fourth Grade: Alyssa Jeffries
Alyssa arrives at school every day with a smile on her face. She is friendly and welcoming to every classmate and teacher. Throughout the day Alyssa focuses on the lessons, perseveres when content is challenging and sets personal goals to get better. I very much enjoy having her as a student!
Fifth Grade: Jude Menne
Jude has demonstrated how focusing and hard work in the classroom pays off. Not only are all of his class work completed on time but, with all his effort. He has shown improvement in all areas because of this. He always has a kind word for his peers and is willing to help others without being asked. Jude is consistently respectful to others, peers, and adults in the building and he always has a pleasant attitude.
Sixth Grade: Trey Hutton
6th grade has chosen Trey Hutton as our Panther of the Month. Trey is a respectful, responsible, and kind young man that makes everyone around him smile daily. Trey always demonstrates the BIG 3, is extremely hard working, and is a joy to have in class.
