Catch-22 is a novel about the craziness of ww2 from the perspective of Yossarian, a bombardier with very crazy yet realistic opinions of war. He is stuck in a struggle for his life in which no matter what he does he loses, the ultimate catch-22 eventually driving him and his bomber group insane. The book is amazing and also highly critically aclaimed.

Yossarian has to find a way out of the war, because every time he flies enough missions to be able to be sent home, his crazy colonel will raise the amount of missions needed. A pawn lost in the bureaucracy, he fears there is no way he can stop flying unless he dies or the war ends.
