Dear SUPER School Families and Friends,
It is with mixed emotions that we share with you Debbie Garcia’s resignation as Head of School. Mrs. Garcia is committed to the current and future success of SUPER School as she intends to complete the school year and work with the team she has fostered in preparation for a new school leader to carry on this important work in the coming months. She will be relocating to the Denver, Colorado area with her family this summer.
Mrs. Garcia has served in a variety of roles during her 5 years of service to SUPER School. She began teaching in Indianapolis in 2009 as a Special Education teacher. Debbie took on the role of Assistant Principal in 2016 and continued as we became an IPS Innovation Network in 2018.
During her tenure as principal of SUPER School for the past year and a half, she has guided the students and teachers on a journey into academic rigor while maintaining social-emotional wellbeing. This has been no small task during the pandemic health crisis that impacted the world in unimaginable ways. She has led her team through technological issues and new health and safety practices to make e-learning and in-person learning possible when students needed it most.
Please join us as we express our sincerest gratitude and heartfelt desire for her continued success as Mrs. Garcia makes this transition. The SUPER School Board will hold her in high regard as we begin to search for a Head of School that shares her passion for student achievement. We will continue to place a high priority on the interests of our dedicated families, staff and community partners.
On behalf of the entire SUPER School Board, thank you for your support. Should you have any feedback, questions or concerns, please reach out to the school team or board as needed.
