National Junior Honor Society
National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a program that promotes the recognition of students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship, and service. After winter break, we began the application process to become a member of the nationally recognized program. You will be able to find more detailed information about requirements on the A.I. Root counseling website:
https://www.medinabees.org/Page/1384
The website outlines requirements such as Leadership, Character, School Service, and Community Service, as well as the other requirements for eligibility.
Any student that has attended A. I. Root for at least 1 full semester is eligible to apply to become a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Students are required to have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher after one semester but Grade Point Average alone does not qualify a student for NJHS.
It is highly recommended that any student who is interested in NJHS begin setting up community service and leadership opportunities. Due to Covid, we understand that this may look different for everyone. We have changed the requirements to join. Please look over the activity form/application for details.
In our continued efforts to develop our students, we encourage them to present questions relating to the NJHS directly to Mrs. Crane or Mrs. Miller. Students must fill out their own application. It is highly recommended that parents proofread their child’s paperwork, as they complete the process. Please contact Kristi Crane, School Counselor, if you have any further questions regarding National Junior Honor Society at 330-636-3500.
1st Semester MODA Students
If your child was a MODA student first semester and he or she has not completed all first semester courses, students will be given until the end of the 3rd quarter to complete these courses. Any first semester MODA course that is not completed by the end of the 3rd quarter (March 26) will receive a final grade based on course completion at that time. Please check your child's Apex dashboard or a recent parent progress report to determine if your child needs to complete Apex courses from the first semester. Contact Mr. Mattie with questions.
