The Manning Weekly Update

January 23, 2023

Big picture

Hello Manning Parents,

Here is some news from Manning for you...

*I spoke to our students last Friday about some of the behavior that has been reported to me from Starbucks on Friday afternoons. I emphasized to our students that it's important that they are positive members of our community and show our neighbors their best. I am proud of the way our students work and behave at school - we want the community to see that same great behavior.

*Tomorrow, January 24th, is when Jeffco Schools will notify parents of their school choice application results. If you have any questions about choice enrollment, etc., please call the school.

*Our PTA met last Thursday and we want to once again thank all the members of our Manning PTA for their support. Ms. Kayla Bjorke reported out on her classroom activities, as well as Mrs. Cheri Cahill who reported out on an upcoming community service project. The next PTA meeting is scheduled for February 16 at 8:30 am in the Manning LMC.

*Our STEAM club, led by Mrs. Sarah Maud competed in a STEAM competition at the Colorado School of Mines last Friday....Way to go Mustangs!

*Our school recently purchased four additional cameras to provide an even safer environment at our school.

Thanks for your support!

Future City Competition at School of Mines on 1/21/2023

Help us congratulate the three STEAM Club teams that competed in the Future City Competition at School of Mines on 1/21/2023. Although Manning did not win any placements today, a lot was learned. Everyone involved should be proud of their efforts. Students and teachers are already thinking of next year. A special thank you to the families of our STEAM students. Their support, participation and encouragement made the competition go smoothly. A special thank you to Sarah Maud and Kori Schwindt for leading the STEAM students . Well done!

The Manning School Chess Club starts again 2/3

Calling all budding Kings and Queens to one of Colorado’s premier

chess programs! With new lessons for returning students, our creative

curriculum brings humor, stories, and "chessercizes" to help students

apply lessons on and off the board. Chess education has been shown

to help kids improve logic, math, and reading comprehension skills.

Students calculate options and evaluate consequences, learning to

overcome obstacles and practice visualization techniques to think

ahead. Whether playing in our scholastic tourneys or with family and

friends, kids love learning with PALS because we make chess FUN!
