Cross Country Runners

Good Luck to all of our Cross Country Runners who are meeting this weekend!

Student of the Month

Each month starting in September students are nominated by their classroom teachers for being exceptional citizens during the previous month. (Our three specialists also choose a student to recognize.)

Normally, we have all the students come to a special lunch in the Eagle’s Nest but in our current situation; I will now be delivering a special lunch to each student in their classrooms on our celebration day!

Each Student of the Month will get a lunch of pizza and ice-cream dessert. In addition, I will read the recognition to the entire class and the celebrated student will get a special Student of the Month zipper pull and certificate. Ms. Kelly will take the students photo and they will be posted on our special bulletin board in the lobby and she will also post the photos on our website. Teachers will be notifying parents of the recognition--and if you would like a copy of your child’s photo, please email your teacher or Ms. Kelly in the front office.

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, parents will not be invited into the classrooms to attend the celebration. But we hope you will celebrate with your child in your own special way!

AT HOME LEARNERS will also be recognized by their teachers! Our celebration for them will include a certificate, zipper pull and their picture on our bulletin board and on our website. Families can drive by the school to pick up the nominated student’s lunch and recognition items on our celebration day. Please note for the AT HOME LEARNERS, your virtual teacher will tell you when you can come by the school to pick up your lunch.

Our first Student of the Month Celebration will be held on September 30. This celebration will be acknowledging our star students for the month of August.

Lunch with the Principal

Lunch with the Principal actually started at Larson when the school opened in 2001 and has been a long standing tradition. It has been a highlight of my time as Principal because it gives me a chance to visit with students and get to know them in a causal/fun atmosphere. Students in the past were invited to join me for a lunch in the foyer, but since we are not mixing classes this year, I have scheduled time to join each classroom for lunch two times throughout the year.

During lunchtime, students eat their hot/cold lunches and we play a game, read a story or just visit and get to know each other. Most of the Lunch with the Principal days are currently scheduled for Fridays and will be confirmed with the classroom teacher the week they are happening. It will take some time to get through all the classes but I am super excited that we can continue this long standing Larson tradition!

Popcorn Friday

We had a great success with our Popcorn Friday last week and again today! Thank you so much to our FTA (Family Teacher Association) for working out all the details.
