Week 9, Term 1 Newsletter
tbc
Tēnā koutou katoa! Greetings everyone!
What a difference a week can make. And it also interests me how much can change in a week or even a day for that matter! It has been so lovely to welcome back staff and students who have been away sick or isolating at home - there is more noise in the staffroom, classrooms and playground. God is so good - He has kept us safe in this season!
As we prepare to wrap up Term 1, teachers are already starting to think ahead and planning for Term 2. With restrictions being lifted or lessened, there will be more opportunities for students to engage with learning experiences outside of the classroom, whānau will be able to join us onsite for pōwhiri, assemblies and events, and we will be able to return to some form of normality - which we were all use to and enjoyed.
Next week is our last week of school before we enter into the school holidays. While it will be a time of resting for some and escaping for an adventure for others, we also celebrate an extremely important event significant to us all as Christians, which is Easter. Easter is celebrated as a joyous holiday because it represents the fulfilment of the prophecies of the Old Testament and the revelation of God's salvific plan for all of humankind. In commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus, Easter also celebrates the defeat of death and the hope of salvation. My encouragement to you all is to take the time with your whānau to discuss the importance of Easter, and of the blessings we receive from the sacrifice Jesus made for us all.
Blessings,
Mrs. Tina Takimoana
Acting Principal
Verse for the week:
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens..."

Term 1 Wrap-up Whānau Online Hui - Wednesday 13 April @ 6pm
With the end of Term 1 fast approaching, it would be a great opportunity to have a ‘catch-up to wrap-up’ this past term. Part of our strategic aim of partnering with whānau is to gather information to help us improve our practices, plan for and deliver quality education for our tamariki.
Please join us for a catch up using this link: Term 1 Wrap up Whanau Online Hui
Congratulations Miss Olling-Wood
It gives me great pleasure to announce Miss Jess Olling-Wood will be returning to us next term as Mrs Shanks. She and her fiance Hanz are going to be married this Saturday! God has been working in their lives and has brought them together to be married as husband and wife.
As a school we want to bless them in this next season and look forward to witnessing the wonderful things God will do in their lives. Ma te Atua koe e manaaki - May God bless you!

Keep us in the loop
Please remember to contact Bobbie in our office if you have a positive case in your household so she can record attendance correctly. If whānau are isolating for 7 days, we can supply some kai and learning material to support you and your family.
Unwell/sick children
This past week we’ve had a rapid increase in the number of children who have become sick and unwell while they’ve been at school. If your own child has been sick and is still showing symptoms (runny nose, coughing, sneezing, etc.), please keep them at home until they have fully recovered. They have the potential to pass on and infect other children or the teacher in their class. Teachers are encouraged to take a RAT to ensure they are not sick. We appreciate your support in helping us to reduce the spread of infections.
Friendly reminder
All fees are due in by the 20th of April 2022. Any queries please contact A.K by email or ph dues@ktabundantlife.org.nz or 020241394591.
Mask Wearing - indoors
Mask wearing in the COVID-19 Protection Framework, at Red level, remains in place while being indoors for staff and children/students in Year 4 to 13. However, there is a change when outdoors - there is no longer a need to wear this outside for everyone. Parents and caregivers do not need to wear outside - only if entering buildings, as is expected by staff and students.
At orange level, masks are strongly encouraged to be worn.
The school has a supply of masks at the office for students to access each day, if they need.
Calling all netballers
The Mangonui Netball Competition starts 1st week Term 2 and we are looking to enter a team. This year the competition will be run at Waipapakauri netball courts. Can students that are interested in playing please see Whaea Alice to express their interest. We will be holding a netball muster in week 9 or 10 of this term.
As you all know, all great netball teams have great coaches and managers. If you are keen to support our team by coaching or managing please let me know via email al.burnett@abundantlife.school.nz.

Kaitaia Golf Club Free Junior Coaching
We are holding some coaching sessions for juniors (6-18yrs old) starting in Term 2 at our top class course in Ahipara.
We have the coaches, golfing equipment and resources as well as the time and energy to help them learn to play the game. All they need to do is to bring some enthusiasm.
The course will run for the whole school Term, from 3.30pm, one afternoon each week (day yet to be confirmed). It will also continue in Term 3 if they wish to go to the next level. Then in Term 4 it will go up another level. There will also be the opportunity to play games on weekends.
Does this sound like something your child could be interested in?

Meet the Team - Ms Bobbie Ngauma - School Office Administrator
Kia ora KALS Whanau,
My name is Bobbie and I am the School Office Administrator. I’m pretty sure you have all met me at one time or another, actually I was probably the 1st point of contact for many of you and I pray that it was a good one lol
I have been blessed to work here at KALS for just over 2 & ½ years. In this time there have been some big changes, but the one thing that has never changed is the love and plans our Lord has for this place - he is good and he is faithful always.
Though I myself never attended here, both my sisters and my eldest daughter attended here for a time and hopefully in the next few years my youngest daughter will also attend KALS, so working here is definitely a feeling of being home.
I come from a little place called Waipapakauri and I am currently in the process of building my first (and last lol) house right next door to the home I grew up in, so for any of you who are my FB friends be prepared to see a lot of progress photos being posted.
And last but not least I am a proud mum of 2 beautiful girls Madison & Emma and a Savta (grandmother) of a beautiful angel granddaughter Ka’lylah-Jay.
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
