Ms. Fyffe's Weekly Newsletter
SEPTEMBER 20, 2013
I hope you all had a great week! I would like to say thank you all for taking my online survey and for setting up conference times for next week! We are already off to a busy start this school year. We have learned so much so far, and I greatly appreciate you all for helping your child as well. The children are able to learn much more with your assistance. Things are moving so smoothly, and I am going to continue to expand your children's education.
THIS WEEK IN CLASS
This week in math we read Chicka Chicka 123 by Bill Martin Jr. & Michael Sampson. I chose this book because I felt it was very helpful for my students to grasp the concept of counting to nine. You should be so proud of them!
This week in science we learned about different types of animals and how they survive in the wild. Also, we learned what animals live in the sea and what animals live on land. In order for the children to understand how these organisms live, I took them to Ms. Helen's classroom to see her aquarium and how fish live in water. We also got to see Mrs. Raymond's pet bunny and how bunnies live on land.
This week in language arts, we learned about different rhyming words. The class got to pick out which Dr. Seuss book they would like to read in order to learn rhyming words.
This week in Social Studies, we learned about different community workers and the roles and responsibilities that they have. We even got to explore a firetruck that the firemen brought to our school. They learned how to use a smoker fan in order to blow out the fire, and the firemen explained how they save families from fires. They also got to visit Nurse Smith this week in order to understand what nurses do. They got to hear each others heart beat as well as take each others temperature.
Next Saturday we will be having our annual fall festival at the school. There will be carnival rides, raffle tickets, a bake sale, a moonwalk, games, and food. We will also be giving out prizes. We encourage all of our families to come out and enjoy the fun.
