STEAM at Scituate
From Biomedical Science
From our HOSA Chapter
From Engineering
On Friday, September 28, students at the middle and high school got to talk to scientists currently on board the E/V Nautilus in five live interactions about their ongoing exploration in the
Papahānaumokuākea National Marine Monument near Hawaii. The phrase of the day was "arch volcanism" as we learned about how they are investigating a theory about how a particular set of underwater volcanoes formed to the north of the main island chain. Students also got to experience a virtual reality tour of the E/V Nautilus and the ROV Hercules with 180 images captured by Ms. Donovan when she was aboard Nautilus this summer.
Civil and Architectural Engineering
Students in Civil Engineering and Architecture completed a project studying and modeling different architectural styles. Thanks to support from the Scituate Lion's Club's support for Scituate STEAM, we were able to purchase a small laser etcher/cutter. So, stay tuned for the next iteration of this project when we are able to build the models from materials cut on the laser!
