Up On The Hill
Week of September 22nd - September 26th
Things to Know
I will be off campus on Monday, September 22nd at Region VI. Please know that you can text or email and I will respond during any breaks that I have.
I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for all of the hard work that you guys are doing. I know that this time of the year can be a bit overwhelming when trying to meet deadlines and requirements. I would like to address the many concerns that have made it my way about the number of AWARE tests required to be put into AWARE and the amount of time that is required to do this. I have taken your concerns to Ms. Liefer and Ms. Goolsby and have plans to bring it back up during our District CLC. In the mean time, I am more concerned about quality than quantity. For now, please have at least one quality cumulative assessment this nine weeks. If you have already created and input more than one that is fine as well, just make sure that any tests you have put into AWARE are quality and will help in identifying historical data along with being useful enough to drive your instruction.
Just a reminder that on Tuesday we will run a pep rally schedule in order to allow for class meetings. Junior high will be in the gym where they will hear about the UIL events they can sign up for.
Thanks to all of you who came out to support our Fighting Owls HS Volleyball team and HS Football teams. Your support of the students in and outside of the classroom does wonders for building your relationships.
Wishing you a blessed week!!

Techy Things to Try
Voki - Create a Speaking Avatar
Voki is a free website that allows you to create a talking Avatar in as little as four steps without having to create an account.
To start, click the create tab at the top of the page.
You can give it a voice by calling in your text, typing it, using the built in microphone or by attaching a file. You will notice that there are over 25 language options and several different voice options.
Classroom integration ideas:
- Use to introduce a new lesson.
- Have students create short book reports.
- Students can enhance their speeches or have the Voki read the speech for them.
- Use as a mastery check.
- Enhance student language skills by taking advantage of the 25+ languages.
