EGMS Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones and other electronic devices, including earbuds, airpods and headphones, may NOT be used during the school day. Devices need to be off and away during educational times, including passing periods.
The following are procedural steps put in place when a student brings a phone or another electronic device into the classroom (per trimester):
1st Violation
Phone/Device will be brought to the office by the student. Student may pick up the phone/device at the end of the school day, after the dismissal bell.
2nd Violation
Phone/Device will be brought to the office by the student. Student may pick up the phone/device after the 2:08 (1:08 Wed) dismissal bell. A phone call will be made home informing parent/guardian that they will need to pick up the phone/device from school if a 3rd violation occurs.
3rd Violation
Phone/Device will be brought to the office by the student. Administration will call and inform that parent/guardian must pick up the phone/device. Student will have a “problem-solving” meeting with administrator. Discipline referral will be written.
Any phone Violation after 3
Phone/Device will be brought to the office by the student. Administration will call and inform the parent/guardian that they must pick up the phone/device. Discipline referral will be written and a cell phone plan put in place.
RIGHT TO PRIVACY
Due to privacy rights and laws, students must not photograph, record or videotape students or staff members without their consent. Doing so will lead to immediate disciplinary action up to out-of-school suspension and law enforcement involvement. Additionally, the posting of footage to the internet without consent is prohibited and will be subject to disciplinary consequences.
EGMS Tardy Policy
We are committed to maximizing student instructional time for all classes. Students are expected to be prepared and ready for class as soon as the tardy bell rings for each class. The following steps will be taken to intervene when students are marked tardy:
Tardy Discipline Ladder
Ladder will be used per class and reset each trimester
1st - 2nd Tardy
Verbal Warning from teacher
3rd Tardy
Teacher notifies parent of 3rd tardy
4th Tardy
Referral Written, Lunch Detention
5th Tardy
Notify Dean of Students and work together with student and parents to make a tardy plan.
EGMS Drop off/Pick up Reminders
EGMS Drop off/Pick up Reminders:
Morning drop off:
Pull as far forward as you can. The first car should pull up to the start of the curve just past the EGMS gym.
Use the pull through loop. Students who get dropped off in the parking lot must cross traffic in the crosswalk which stops traffic flow and increases the probability of an accident.
Make sure your student has their things ready when you pull into the drop off loop.
Drive slowly though the drop off loop.
Stop for all students trying to cross in the crosswalk unless a school staff member is waving you forward and stopping students from crossing.
Afternoon Pick-up:
Drive slowly in the pick up loop and in the parking lot.
Continue pulling as far forward as possible. As cars pick up their student(s) and exit, pull forward to keep the line moving.
Stop for all students trying to cross in the crosswalk unless a school staff member is waving you forward and stopping students from crossing.
*Please park in the parking lot and use the crosswalk if you need to complete school business.
