Student Recognition - Awards!
Student of Character - awarded to one student per classroom for demonstrating the character trait of the month. We will still deliver yard signs to the students' homes for recognition, in addition to providing an award.
Charger Award - awarded to one student per classroom for improvement with behavior or academics of the last month.
Noble Knight Award - award for one student per classroom who is a role model for others through safe, respectful and responsible behavior.
Specials awards - specials teachers can select one boy and one girl from grades k-2, and one boy and one girl from grades 3-5 to receive an award for active participation, great attitude, quality work and following expectations.
When you decide who should receive each award:
- We will have certificates printed in the office for you to use for these awards.
- Write 2-3 sentences on the back of the certificate to explain why the child deserves the recognition.
- Call the child's parent to let them know you selected their child for an award and why. (record on parent contact log in IC)
- Turn in awards to Kaylie in office by Monday, Sept. 28th.

Blue Forms
This is how we decide who needs to begin behavior interventions. This could look like check in/check out, social skills groups with Doug or Shannon, or support from our Bridges room. However, if we don't have the data, we don't know which students need some additional help.
We've had several requests for assistance, with only 2 blue forms filled out so far. We want to help the students and you to be as proactive as possible as opposed to waiting to be reactive to behaviors. Please let me know if you have questions.
Once the form has been completed, it needs to go in my box the same day the incident occurred.

Message from Marty
Decide as a team what day you would keep tallies for redirects.
On the chart, you will tally how many redirects a student had during the day.
Once you've completed the tally day, you will meet as a team to discuss and ask yourself the following questions.
- Which students am I redirecting too often?
- What time of day has the most redirects? (I need to tighten up expectations here.)
- Which gender do I redirect the most?
- What ethnicity do I redirect the most?
- What did our team learn from this activity and what will we do next?
Be prepared with your tally chart and reflection on these questions when Marty returns on October 7th.

Dawn's Dish
- Try creating a form assignment that Google can grade for you.
- Challenge students to create videos in Google Slides to respond to a book or give a book recommendation for your class.
- Start trying out pear deck, nearpod, and jamboard if you haven't already.
There are so many great ideas that have been shared among yourselves and your creativity is invigorating.
Keep practicing...new learning is hard!
