SUMMER OFFICE HOURS

The Office will be open:


  • Mondays - Thursdays, July 18 through August 8, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Wednesday, August 9, from 1 to 4 pm.
  • Weekdays beginning August 10 from 7:40 am to 4:00 pm.


Parents and students will have an opportunity to meet their teachers Monday, August 14 at the following times:


  • Kindergarten through 2nd Grades' Meet The Teacher Night will begin at 5:30 and end at 6:15 pm.
  • 3rd through 5th Grades' Meet The Teacher Night will begin at 6:30 pm and end at 7:15 pm.


School starts Wednesday, August 16 at 7:40 am.

NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT INFORMATION

  • Completed, printed and signed New Student Enrollment Packet
  • Certified copy of birth certificate* (incoming Kindergartners must be 5 years old by September 1, 2017)
  • Proof of residency, ie; lease agreement, sales contract, closing documents, property tax statement, or property deed AND a utility bill for electricity, water, or gas.
  • Immunization records (see Immunization Requirements)
  • Social Security Card (preferred, but optional)
  • Latest report card
  • Unofficial transcript (high school only)
  • Any 504/special education documents
  • Standardized test scores from previous school district
  • Photo ID of parent/guardian enrolling child

Ordering Instructions:


1. Log onto www.sproutsupplies.com/school-supply-kits and enter WCHES001

2. Select the appropriate grade pack. Be sure to choose next year’s grade level.

3. Pay with a debit or credit card. You will receive an email confirmation once you

purchase your child’s kit.

4. Order dates: May 1 – July 31

5. Every kit includes all the exact teacher requested supplies, viewable online.

6. Your kit will be delivered directly to West Cypress Hills Elementary School in August!

Kinder Playdate @ WCHE Thursday, August 10

Come and join us for an incoming kindergarten playdate at WCH. You'll have an opportunity to meet new friends, connect with old friends, burn some energy, and then cool down with snow cones!

WCHE Library Summer Reading Challenge

The best way to become a better reader is to spend time reading.


Did you know that when kids don’t read over the summer they are likely to fall behind when they head back to school? These learning losses are often called the “Summer Slide,” and our school has made it a priority to keep our students’ skills sharp by encouraging them to read all summer long. Spending just 20 minutes of reading time each day will make a dramatic difference in your child’s success in the coming school years.


Our school will be participating in a summer reading challenge developed with input by WCHE students. Set a goal, read some new books in fun places, and be smarter than ever when you read over the summer!


If you need suggestions for books, here are summer reading lists from the Association for Library Service to Children:
