We made it through our first month back to school. Thank you to all our Clover Bar Knights for making our transition back to school a wonderful one. Everyone has now settled into a routine and it's time to buckle down. Before we know it, Fall Break will be upon us.
The colours on the trees are changing and so is the weather, so please remember to dress accordingly.

Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent / Teacher interviews will take place on the evenings of October 19, 20, 21, from 3:30 – 5:30. Clover Bar Junior High will be using School Interviews to book the times for these as we have done in the past. Because of the restrictions placed on us due to COVID, we will be conducting the interviews by phone call.
The bookings will open on Wednesday, October 13 at 9:00 a.m.

Improving Home-School Communication
To enhance communication between families and schools, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) has developed a how-to guide entitled, “Communication Protocol for Schools.” Topics include appropriate channels to use, standard formats and structures, timing and sequencing for regular and ongoing home-school communication, and ways to bring forward questions or concerns. The guide also offers useful tools and resources schools and families can use to enhance face-to-face meetings, email communication and various social media effort
School Bus Safety Week October 17 - 23
Schools throughout Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) are celebrating School Bus Safety Week October 17-23. The theme: Bus Rules Rock!, which focuses on the importance of being a responsible rider. Throughout the week, various activities are planned, including information sessions, bus-safety lesson plans and bus-evacuation drills.
As part of School Bus Safety Week, Clover Bar Junior High reminds students and families all Division school buses are equipped with a bus-pass scanner, GPS technology, the Child Check-Mate system and surveillance equipment, which allows Student Transportation to better monitor and manage its more than 160 buses. Families and students also have access to the Traversa Ride 360 app, a mobile tool to help determine the location of a bus, projected arrival times and when a child is scanned onto a bus. Clover Bar Junior High participated in a bus evacuation drill on the afternoon on Thursday, October 7.

Read In Week 2021 taking place October 4-8
Read In Week 2021 taking place October 4-8.
Read in week is Oct 4-8. The theme this year is “To Each Their Own Story”. We each have our own story---our own favorite stories to read and our own stories to tell. The goal of read in week is to encourage a lifelong love of reading and enhance literacy awareness!
- To celebrate and share our own unique stories we will be having a design your own book cover coloring contest. The contest papers will be available in the library and can be worked on in the library over lunch or at home. Please hand in your entry by Fri Oct 8. There are prizes for the top 3 entries:
- a Mini Mart gift card
- A Vex robotics STEM kit
- A Great Canadian puzzles book
- English classes will be filling out “Knights Fav book picks” and you will be able to see their top recommendations posted around the library and discover some recommended titles.
- The leadership class and PLACE class will be participating in Buddy Reading
There are many other ways to celebrate like visit your school or public library, view virtual read alouds, or listen to an audiobook. Have a wonderful Read In Week!

School Fees
Pay School Fees Online!
School fee information for the 2021-22 school year is now posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay them online using Visa, MasterCard or debit card—when available from your financial institution.
Don’t forget to also log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly throughout the year. Fees are often added to your child’s account to cover the cost of various school activities such as field trips, class projects, extracurricular activities fees and more.
If circumstances exist where you are unable to pay your fees, you can apply to have fees waived by submitting an Application for a Waiver of Fees. The application deadline is Dec. 15, 2021.

Celebrating World Teachers’ Day: October 5
October 5 is World Teachers’ Day! Launched in 1994 by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually around the world as a way to recognize teachers and the integral role they play in providing quality education to students. On October 5, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) encourages all of its students, parents and community members to show their appreciation for their teachers and the positive impact they make on our lives.
EIPS extends its heartfelt thank you to all Division teachers for their dedication, hard work and commitment in guiding and educating students through their kindergarten to Grade 12 years.
