Tiger Family News

3rd Quarter

A Note from Mrs. Malin...

What is your why? Why do you do what you do? The Tiger staff has focused on these two questions this year. I'm here to tell you that if you don't know it already, there is an AMAZING one of a kind staff at London Elementary. I am so blessed to get to work with them and see them selflessly go above and beyond to love, teach, and interact with our students each and every day.

Throughout the process of reflecting on our why, we created a list of words that made up each teacher's "why." (You can see those below.) We realized that the mission statement we had for the past several years didn't truly reflect our why at London Elementary. A new mission statement was developed that we feel now reflect our why. It is the reason London Elementary exists! We use this statement to ensure that everything we do aligns to our why. You can see our mission statement below. When we know our "why", our "what" becomes more clear and more impactful. At London Elementary, we don't just know what we are doing, we know WHY we are doing it and we are walking each day in our purpose....believing that ALL students will achieve at high levels of achievement and will be successful, self-reliant individuals in a safe, loving, positive, and collaborative environment!

Individual Attention for Every Student!

At London Elementary, we take an individual look at every single child to monitor their learning and ensure every child is growing. Once a month, we give an assessment called Istation to track their progress in reading and math. We look at each child's scores and at classroom performance to determine areas of strength and areas of needed growth. Teachers and interventionists use that information to plan and teach lessons to meet that child's individual need and individual pace. This learning takes place during our club time every day from 2:40-3:10. Every student goes to their club two times a week and gets three days of individualized instruction. In addition, teachers use this information to plan small group instruction that takes place every day during reading.

Once a quarter, our Response to Intervention team, consisting of the principal, counselor, interventionists, and classroom teacher, meets to look at each child's progress. If a child is not growing and learning at the pace that is expected, we analyze the data and problem solve together on what to do next to help that child. We have many opportunities at London to help every child learn at high levels of achievement and be successful, self-reliant individuals!
