April News
Dear Parents,
We are just about to start the last marking period of school—time sure flies! As the weather gets nicer and after-school sports and activities get into full swing, please still give the academic work the attention it deserves. There is a lot more learning ahead and we want to make sure your child is fully prepared.
Spring is finally here! Now, we await the warm up! During this spring holiday season, I hope you are able to spend quality time with your loved ones—embracing all the special traditions that hold for you and your families.
Happy Spring (finally)!!
Sincerely,
Ms. Moore

We are excited to announce the formation of our IMS Parent Advisory Group. The purpose of this group is to engage parents as partners at IMS to help mold an effective, responsive and responsible team with the goal of enhancing the educational experiences of all of our IMS students. We look forward to hearing from all of you!
Spring Book Fair
A big THANK YOU to the chairperson who put so much effort into creating our fabulous Spring Book Fair: Mrs. Schwartz! We are also grateful to all of the dedicated parent volunteers who aided our students and made the Book Fair a huge success.
Thank you to all our students who contributed coins so that new books can be purchased for our library! Congratulations to Mrs. Girgenti's 2nd grade class for winning a visit from Mr. Softee in our classroom coin collection challenge.
Principal's Reading Challenge!
Early Dismissal Reminder
On early dismissal days, please remember to write a NOTE letting us know if you have alternative plans for your children. If you are in need of alternate care, YMCA offers an after school program. For more information call 654-8225.
Dress Code Reminder
Since warmer weather will soon be upon us, please be sure your child is dressed appropriately. No spaghetti straps, halter-tops, or bare midriffs are permitted. Students dressed inappropriately will be asked to change. Please be sure all shoes are safe and appropriate for recess. Slides, platform sandals, and flip-flops pose a safety hazard for the playground. Sneakers are always the best bet for safe playing. Again, thanks for your cooperation.
Notes, Please!
Early pickups are very disruptive to our classrooms. We understand that some medical appointments must be set up for the end of the school day. However, calling into the classroom to get your child ready is disruptive when the teacher is in the middle of a lesson. When you send in a note, the teacher can have your child packed and ready to go at the time specified. Please remember to send us a note in the morning with your child when you are picking them up early!
Thank you!
New Student Registration
Please tell your family, friends and neighbors to call and register any student (K-4) that plans to attend our school next year. It’s not too early! Contact Ms. Klouchek at 268-0220, ext. 2001
Nurse's Notes- Ms. Simpson
Dear Indian Mills School Community:
Spring has sprung!!
The health office maintains a physical on each child that was required upon entry to school. It is important to obtain subsequent medical examinations of your child at least once during each developmental stage, at early childhood (pre-school through grade three), pre-adolescence (grade four through six) and adolescence (grades seven through 12). If you are going to obtain or have recently obtained a physical on your child, I would appreciate a copy for their health records. This will ensure the most up to date information is available in case of emergency. Thank you. The physical form is available on my web page.
If your child needs to sit out of gym for longer than a week, we require a note from the health care specialist. No gym, no recess.
It is important to let me know if there are any medications (or changes in their medication) your child takes on a regular basis.
To help prevent the spread of germs, please remind your child of proper hand hygiene and cough etiquette.
Stay healthy!
Ms. Simpson
