Words of Comfort Ministries (WOC)
Dear School Administrators,
The purpose of this email is to request your support in advertising scholarship opportunities for your high school seniors. Words of Comfort Ministries, Inc. (WOC) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. Through its scholarship funds, WOC provides financial assistance to outstanding male and/or female African-American students residing in the United States who plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the U.S.
In addition to the above, the Marvin Lee Daniels 982nd Signal Command ROTC Scholarship will be awarded to one student who plans to pursue their normal academic studies along with coursework in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), a college program offered at a college and/or university that prepares young adults to become officers in the U.S. Military. Strong candidates for the ROTC scholarship include students who excel academically, exemplify the values of volunteerism and service, and are leaders in their community.
WOC recognizes the importance of education in the lives of children and the commitment to serve those less fortunate. We are delighted to provide a total of six scholarship awards to high school seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA who reflect these same high standards. Specifically, one-thousand dollars ($1,000) will be awarded to five students NOT pursuing ROTC and one-thousand dollars ($1,000) will be awarded to one student enrolled in ROTC.
As we support educational opportunities for these students, we hope that they will lead their lives in a way that will eventually give something positive back to their community.
