CSA Lincoln Newsletter

December 11, 2015

The Findley family attended their first Festival of Lights Parade this past weekend. It was great visiting with so many of our students and their families out in the community. We did not stay for the fireworks, but we heard it was quite the show!

We have many activities planned for next week. Please be sure to check the school calendar (link below). One week to go!

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Jenny Thompson earns promotion!

Mrs. Thompson met with staff this morning to let them know she has accepted a position at the BCSC Administration building as a secretary. We are very sad to see her go, but also happy for her promotion. As you know, she is most deserving. I offered her an opportunity to say goodbye to you as well and the letter below is from her. The position has been posted on the BCSC website and we will begin looking for candidates to fill the position. We obviously won't be able to replace Jenny! Jenny will be helping with the transition and we hope to have the position filled for the start of the second semester.

Dear Parents,

I want to share some exciting news with you. I have been offered and have accepted a position at the BCSC Administration building as a secretary. This promotion comes at a very pivotal time in my life as I have a daughter heading to college in the fall.

It has truly been an honor to serve you and your children the last eight years as Project Manager and as the school secretary. I love this building and my heart will always be a Husky heart! I will continue to work with Brett to make this transition as smooth as possible. And of course, I still plan to work the basketball games so you won’t be completely rid of me!

Thank you again for sharing your children with me. They have been a blessing and I will miss them terribly!

eLearning Day- Enter to win an electronic device!

We are sending home an eLearning survey about internet connectivity at home. We are collecting this information to better help us prepare for the potential of an eLearning day.

eLearning Day- Upon the 6th snow day, instead of adding on another day at the end of the school year, BCSC will utilize an eLearning Day. Students will be accessing their school work on the computer from home or at designated sites. Have questions? I'm sure you do! There will be more information to come.

For now, here is what we need:

1. Complete the survey

2. Send it back in with your student no later than Thursday, December 17th.

3. Any student who does this will be entered to win an electronic device that will be given out on Friday, December 18th!

CSA Lincoln 3rd Grade Music Program

We would like to invite you to attend the CSA Lincoln December Program on Thursday, December 17th as the choir sings and the 3rd grade presents "Mrs. Claus and the Great Elf Rebellion." The performance will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Middle School Grey Box Theatre. If you are unable to attend the evening show, there will be an afternoon show at 1:00 p.m. (limited seating available). It's going to be a great show! Free admission for all!

The initial deposit of $50 is due to the school no later than December 18th with the permission slip. Checks should be written to CSA Lincoln Elementary. If you will need financial assistance with the trip, you must talk with Mr. Findley prior to December 18th.

We have had 133 parents complete the parent survey! The previous best was 98 parent responses. Please click HERE to complete the survey. The new format is mobile friendly.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 18th. The class with the highest percentage that completes the survey will win a prize!

We have paper copies in Spanish if needed.

The Series books on the Fiction shelves have been turned on their sides and new shelf markers have been added. Lots to see! Project Update

Our Kindergarten classes are going to be spreading holiday cheer while working with the Salvation Army to make fleece blankets for the 19 residents at their Booth Manor Apartments. They sold popcorn at lunch to make money to help pay for the supplies and bus trip next week.

  • First grade students are in-between projects.

  • Second graders are learning about what holiday celebrations look like around the world. They are learning about many different cultures and countries. This week they learned about Sweden, France, and India. They even had a guest speaker come in and share more about Diwali.

  • Third graders are in-between projects.

  • Fourth grade finished up their Love Chapel project and were able to raise 1400 items for the organization.

  • Fifth grade are working hard on completing all the projects for their upcoming Holiday Shop. Those products will be on sale next week.

  • Sixth grade students are working on their new project, Mythbusters.
  • Project Prizes

    • Ms. Brill's 2nd grade class won the Fireman's Cheer Fund toy collection and has earned an ice cream party with Mr. Findley next Monday.

    • Fourth grade won the Love Chapel can food drive. They earned a gym free play/hot chocolate party next Wednesday.

Curious what school lunch is like these days? Maybe not, but we would love for you to come eat lunch with your student(s). It is a great opportunity to connect parents with the school. Are the grandparents looking for something to do? Send them in. Feel free to bring in something to eat or buy a school lunch. If you call ahead, they can prepare a chef salad for you (a staff favorite). Please stop in the main office, sign-in and put on a visitor's badge.

    Big Brothers & Big Sisters

Information on this great program. Both here and at Northside Middle School I have seen HUGE gains for students who are partnered with a "big". If you have time or know someone who would be a good fit, please consider this program.
