A Day to Celebrate
It's September 16th, which is a serious day to celebrate, did you know it's:
- National Tattoo Story Day - Hopefully it's a good one, you're stuck with it forever-ish
- Play-Doh Day - Come to the lounge and celebrate with our bucket o'Doh
- National Guacamole Day - Mash an avo and munch it down
- Respect for the Aged Day - As an old, I fully support this. And get off my lawn.
Get out there and celebrate guys!

Wagner Free Institute of Science Volunteers
Located at 17th Street and Montgomery Avenue, the Wagner Free Institute of Science, founded in 1855, is a natural history museum, educational institute, and historic site dedicated to providing the public with free education in science and the history of science. The Wagner’s building, museum, and collections are nearly unchanged since the late 19th Century, but that description doesn’t begin to capture the magic of this place. Look at our Twitter, Facebook, Website, or other pages for images, but you should really just stop by between 9 and 4 Tuesday through Friday and see it for yourself! The Wagner is a hidden gem every Temple student (and Philadelphian and American and person) should see.
The volunteer program at the Wagner provides opportunities to help welcome museum visitors from around the world and grow our free programs that teach science and the history of science. Right now, the greatest needs are in working with visitors at the front door, staffing events, and helping with promotion and mailings, with other opportunities a possibility in the future. All opportunities are a chance to get to know the Wagner better and learn more about our history, as well as who we are and what we do today. You’ll get some experience in the museum field, meet our enthusiastic audience, and you’ll get to know the staff who are a diverse group as well. (Many of whom are also Temple alums.) If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with the Wagner, email Mabel Rosenheck at mabelr@wagnerfreeinstitute.org.
